Google isnt helping me or else i wouldnt create such a thread. Im moving into an apartment in elmwood village, and the tub is a standalone tub. Do i need to buy super wide curtains for it or will regular 72" wide curtains work. I was only at target but they dont have anything wider than that and it seems like it deffinitly wouldnt fit all the way around.
I painted for a guy who had one of these, he used 2 shower curtains. It’s got the brass halo over it right?
ya it does, and stupid me i didnt even think about it when i was looking at the apartment. I would use two but i wanna have a fabric curtain on the outside as well and with just one curtain ring that would probably be impossible to have 3 or 4 curains on it
Can you use two clear vinyl ones, one for the back and one for the front and put the fabric over the front vinyl?
nvm im an idiot i just figured out how it would work. Ive read though that using 2 seperate ones doesnt hold water well at all and u can get lots of leaks out of the shower
my last apt, with a cast tube we used 2 with no leak issues…
Just make sure they overlap, you’ll be fine.
yea man use 2. ill draw ya a little thing in MS paint. i lived in a place like that for 14 years its quite easy
ya thats exactly what i was thinkin. i guess i just had too much runnin through my head earlier while i was shoppin. Ended up sending 200 bucks and im pretty sure im not even half done with buying everything i need.
then with your outer curtain either clip it to your shower curtain or get some other nicer clips and clip it to the pole
Wait til you become a homeowner, I’d kill to only spend $200 on house stuff. I spent $300 today on basement lighting, electrical wire, some flooring and a few more hand tools. Ugh…
QFT They should just charge me $100 to walk into Home depot cause 9 out of 10 times, I can’t walk out of there spending less than that.
X…
I’ll third this… Lowes/HD are my mortal enemies being a homeowner… I’m sure over the past 5 years of owning my house I’ve paid a few yearly salaries.
Werd. I am pretty sure I am Springville Lowes biggest customer since they opened while I was building my house. I still spend at least $300/month there. lol
The number of curtains needed depends on the size of the tub. I used 3 for the tub I have, and you just overlap 2-3 holes on each one…making one of the overlaps towards the back where you would get in and out of the tub and one up in front where the knobs are. I know they also make special liners meant for surrounding the entire tub and you may be able to get away with only 2, but liners are cheap…so its a no brainer.
One suggestion would be to get the metal curtain hooks or the clips rather than the cheap plastic rings. They are so much easier to put up. as you will likely have to change the liners at least a 2-3 times a year as they get moldy…the extra couple bucks is worth the time you save.
Welcome to the EV
ya i got metal hooks i hate rings they remind me of the 1980’s, and nothing good happened in the 80’s. And ye im rly excited about moving to the village, its righ by my work and ive been wanting to live downtown for a while now. When u overlap the first two or threee holes do you also put the hooks through th overlapped holes, im jw kuz then you wouldnt be able to seperate the curtains at the top and im wonderin if that would be a pain in the ass
Home Depot READ:Hundred Dollars minimum.
Yes, I do overlap the holes…and its not a problem at all… you just pull each curtain apart when getting in/out and they just fall back into place. People who have never used the shower always seem to have a hard time finding where to get in and out.

And no matter how little you are there to buy, you will always be there for at least an hour.
Just make sure that the spot where you overlap the two different liners, that the overlap faces the front of the tub, that way, the water can’t shoot in between the crack as easily.
It’s hard to explain, so I did a quick image…circle is the shower head with water flowing, lines are the overlap of the curtain
I have a cast iron tub I use two curtains on and overlap two wholes works fine.
