i bought this car not too long ago for 500$ and the fuel pump was bad so i couldnt test drive it, anyways i got it running and could hear very loud clunking in the rear over pot-holes, got it to my shop with a trip permit and found out the front right (rear subframe) bolt is snapped, can this be changed? or do i have to cut the frame where the bolt sits in and weld a new one in place?
There had been MANY threads on this exact topic, search and you will find them.
under your rear seat u have to cut the cloor to get access inside the the frame and cut the stud from the top use a torche. cut the welds off and take a air hammer and hammer it out from the bottom. and find a bolt that is good enough to replace it.
actually ya thats sounds alot easier than taking the subframe down lol, thanks alot
yea i did i ton my s14 no need to take the subframe down ull be wasting time.
im not sure if the s13 studs are welded in i believe they arnt but ino for sure they are pressed in just like the s14’s studs. u may read bout people using drills to break the weld, u can do that if u wana spend days on the car, best thing is use a torche proper 1 like 1 ull find at a shop.
Hey
Just removed 4 from a 90 S13 – remove nut and put back on flush with the bolt -place a thick piece of steel (1/2")over the nut and bolt and press out–no welds–I used a 1.5" steel hole saw to locate the bolt heads and remove–
-a broken bolt may reguire pressing out using another bolt depending where it is broken

The front ones or the rear studs? I broke the rear driver side stud… I sent plans to get a piece machined up, i’ll drill the current stud, bolt the machined piece right in and weld it to the stud because it’s a too big PITA to get out.
If you managed to get the rear ones out, TELL ME HOW! PLEAAASEEE!!
no i broke the front 1ns , but if its the rear 1ns should be the same u have to cut into your trunk just figure out where to cut so u get inside the frame rail.
^^ Did you looked where you’d have to cut? you have at least 1 foot before you can even think reaching the floor/rail…
well i dont no about the rear 1ns i figured out hot to cut on my s14 by taking the seatbelt bolt out and putting a piece of wire through the hole to see where i should cut. just fallow the frame rails and u should know where to cut.
