Supercharged 240

would you or would you not? if so…KA or SR?

I prefer superchargers. Consistent power, and belt driven.

This question has been asked so many times! I think I would supercharge a KA since an SR already comes turbo’ed…

haha, jokesters…

there is a reason no one supercharges 240sx’s…

…yes, and? mind sharing, bingo?

Because no one offers a supercharger kit online for them.

R&Ding a DIY S/C properly is not something you can just go out and do.

We’re working on one right now for a KA swap in an S12. 10lbs intercooled, but I won’t even try and guess power gains.

S/Cs are fun, but have their downsides too.

You lose revability, lose torque and generate a lot of extra heat. I know everyone with Google is going to try and dispute it, or have a story about a guy that knows a guy … but

For ease of comparison, go out and drive a 4AGZE and a 4AGE

Say what you want, but the ZE will not rev up, overheats and stays overheated, and makes 20 hp more.

Power gains especially on a small displacement motor are typically not worth the investment, especially if you’re shelling out big bucks.

People are willing to pay $5,000 for 60hp upgrades, which I don’t get.

Then, trying to DIY pulleys to up the boost can be a huge headache.

And you still need to upgrade the fuel system and everything else just like a turbo car.

Now, running 60psi on a V8 out of an old school 14-71 with a bunch of carbs on top of it …

That’ll go fast.

Weiand FTW!

It’s fairly easy if you are a machinist or something.

All you need is to fabricate a bracket to hold the compressor, and then
find an appropriate belt and feed it off one of the other pullies.

The rest is pretty much same as turboing (piping, oil lines, etc.)

thanks for explaining mr200.

i’d super a KA-E, only with a centrifugal, roots type arent power efficent
