Suspension Combo Recommendations

i’ll use my hookup(s)… if u want something nobody’s heard of you have to dig deeper than JIC or even zeal… maybe ill get some kei office 8)

oh btw, if u look at the pic… his sleepy eyes are off, just like mine

Did anyone notice that the headlights on Koguchi’s car are at different heights?

I think that the GP Sports Drift coilovers would be cool, along with Kei Office.

ya, are there anyother types of good sway bars that are not 600 like the whiteline ones, and also what are some good springs that will give you like a 1.75 drop, i was thinking sportlines but then i have been hearing that they settle really low and that they are more for just looks and donr perform that well?

i have a HKS HIPERMAX 2. 30 ways adjust front and rear with 12k front and 10k spring.

 ^^^ Those things retail for $2400USD

Excuse me while I go rob a bank…

i was pricing out sportline springs for jesse yesterday…

i wont be working again until spring, but when i do i can give you guys the sportlines for under $300 brand new.

if you decide to donate to the club and we do a banner swap with AW, then the price becomes $270 canadian + tax.

that is alot lower than i have ever heard, i dont know why, but as of yesterday, dec 29 2003 that price was accurate. but will only be honoured by me and i dont work there anymore.

my boss agreed to a 10% discount which a couple people took advantage of, but it is not official yet so no one else there will do it for you.

sorry…

if you are planning on doing sus in the spring, wait for me to pick up some shift and i will re-establish the 10% disco and if the sportlines are the same cost, then they will be $270 for members only.

Any other suspension/springs you can get yer hands on? Or even shocks?
I’m aiming for RS-R springs now cuz they seem to be at a reasonable
price and are relatively stiff.

Shocks, so far it’s AGX but I’m still researching to see if I can get anything else.

no on RSR, unless you can tell me who the canadian distributor is…

AGX’s are the cheapest for adjustability, PDM is still cheaper than i can get them for.

pricing goes like this.

tok blues / AGX / illumina’s - koni yellow’s/ and above this you should be going with Tein.

if lowering, stay away from GR-2’s, they are not for lowered vehicles, they are oe replacement.

coil over sleeves are under $200 canadian. STAY AWAY. unless you are a complete idiot.

Don’t know about any Canadian dealers. I belive RS-R has just exploded
into the US market as of late.

Phase2Motortrend has them for $235USD (I figure with shipping and
customs and all that jazz, it’d cost me at least $400-$500CAD). And
most other places in US have them in the $250USD range.

AGX from PDM would prolly cost me $720CAD to my door.

Gonna have to check my options as April-May gets closer. If I can
get coils by spending a little extra, I may go with coils.

Time will tell…

my AGX’s were $718 to my door from don, should be better now with the exchange…

Don works on a $1.40 Fixed Rate.

I believe Don is making changes for 2004, so we’ll prolly see new prices
in the next couple weeks or so.

They’re only $1768 from www.projectnissan.com.

has good prices on agx if i remember correctly
i had an awsome deal off someone from freshalloy in the summer to get agx’s + teins for supercheap
i got from someone else for a lil more, but no shipping hassles

Setup on my 1995 S14:

RS*R race coils
KYB AGXs
ST Sway bars
Whiteline TC bushings
Whiteline front strut bar
Subframe spacers
Tein front pillow mounts
Eccentric camber bolts

Impression? Wow. If you regularly autox/road race/drift your car, and cannot go to coilovers but want something stiffer, then this is the setup for you. The RSR coils are linear at 5/4.2. These are not your momma’s SUS down springs, these are the real deal. With the AGXs turned up you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between these and any $1500 coilover setup. I cannot comment yet on the life span of the AGXs paired with the RSRs, but after 5 months of hard driving, they are as good as the day I first rode on em. Drop is average.

Tein pillow mounts keep the front end in line, made a big difference on the autox course, and the subframe spacers tightened up the rear BIG TIME. Controlling this car in mid drift is like magic.

I have Tein tie rods and RUCAs on the way, should be very interesting when I get her back on the road in the spring…

I was contemplating the AGX + RS-R combo (you can see my post
on FA about it), but I was still not convinced with its lifespan. It looked
to be a great setup for a spring and strut combo.

I will have pretty much what you have Rowan, with the addition of the
control arm bushings (and CP strut bars instead).

Can’t wait till spring. But yea, as was mentioned here, power is nothing without control

I am curious as to what 7/5, 10/9 etc means? I read all the threads about suspension and tuning etc, but how do you actually decide what your going to run? Like how do i know how much kg per mm is good, how hard, soft, etc to run the springs?

I was thinking about engine or springs, and am just trying to collect all the info I can. (yes i also read the thread about Eng VS Springs)

I was looking at the group buys, and everyone went with the d2 7/5 setup. What does this mean? How do you figure out what to run? Which company to buy from etc?
Thanx!

The numbers 7/5 mean the spring stiffness in the Front and Rear.

So 7kg/mm means, for every 7kg of weight on the spring, the spring
will compress 1mm. Same goes for 5kg; for every 5kg of weight on
the spring, it will compress 1mm.

A good combo for driving on a track, with some suspension combination
(i.e. swaybars, strut brace, upgraded bushings or control arms),
would be 7/5 and little higher (i.e. 8/6, or even 9/7). If you put these
kind of stiff springs on a shock like KYB AGX, it will most likely blow
after a while (assuming you do some heavy driving).

If you want just a little stiffer then stock, the Tein S-Tech are good for the
price (as in the GB). Pair em with a set of KYB shocks and you’ll have a
fairly good improvement on performance.
