swap a lsj (cobalt supercharge motor) into a 97 z24?

This has bad idea written allllllllllllllll over it.

Traumadog is correct that the GMSC kits were made specifically for the 2000+ LD9 engines which would mean EGR would need to be blocked off and removed from the codes in the ECU… also the reflash that comes with the kit could not be used on the 97… but that is something that anyone with HPTuners and tuning knowledge should be able to take care of

I ran the GMSC on my 99 Z24 for a couple years and managed about 270whp out of it with meth injection and alot of other mods… it was a fun little car and incredibly reliable… MUCH more than my custom turbo setup! ughhh

You should be able to run a non-EGR ECU…
just swap a few pins around.

IIRC, I used a 99 Non EGR ECU in a 98 EGR z24.
I had schematics showing it, but I have not tried to modify a j-body since 2003.

turbo the 2.4, i did it using a junkyard turbo and greddy emanage for about$1300. the car ran a best of 13.3 @ 109 and put 222hp down to the wheels.

some 2001 cavaliers got the ecotec… thats what i was trying to say though i explained it poorly. i figured that you could use the mounts from the 2001 on the 97 and possibly make the lsj a bolt in but im just guessing.

why not look into swap a LNF into it?

If you can put a SHO motor into a Camaro, or a Skyline motor in a BMW anything is possible.

this is a pretty decent swap. just a little more power over a stock lsj.
