taking off the cluster.

how the hell are you supposed to take off the piece behind the steering wheel ( the one with all the buttons for the wiper , headlights …etc) ? i tried haynes manual but they dont tell you how to take it off.

lower the steering column down a few inches with the screws under the dash… then it will slide out

wow, it won’t jsut SLIDE out…its a pain getting over the ignition switch.

pull all the buttons out, remove the plug thats attached to it. lower your steering, and remove the steering colum cover…two screws…then just pull down on the bottom peice and it comes right off…
then the trim will come out a lot easier…

lube it up like your about to ITB your gf and it will pop out like butter.

but the real secret it dropping your steering coloum

Yea, you don’t need to unplug any switches or buttons. Just lower the harness, I swapped in the 240km/h speedo last week. Easy as pie.

There are 2 12 or 14mm bolts on either side of the steering column right at the end of the column cover. Undo those and the column will drop down. Then everything comes off easy. Putting it back on is a little more difficult though.

ok there are TWO bolts underneath the dash that face UPWARDS, they are about where your knees are when you drive, inbetween them closer together, undo those two carefully and the whole steering column will lower, that should give you more room to take off the plastic trim around the cluster
