my personal opinion is while its a good device, it’s be no means the best device, and i will personally not own one.
Having spent several hours on the droids and the facinate… and the iphone, the iphone was better in almost every way.
Why is every droid I touch freezing up and needing a reboot? Why is the youtube app so neutered and slow? Where are the updates? lol
It is completely subjective… and opinion based… and personal preference is currently pointing me to the iphone, and i hate apple and I hate itunes even more.
no idea why they were freezing. it happens to all smartphones from time to time, including iphones. if its happening frequently, have the device replaced under warranty.
Being that it is 2011 and I’m surrounded by smartphones… every single droid I’ve touched has frozen or lagged horribly. They can’t all be bad… but they can all be shitty. 
I’ve only played with 5 or so iPhone4s and never had a problem. Very fluid movements and the apps opened when I wanted them too.
I know it’s your job to play with these things all day, but they are 10/10 in disappointing me.
why do they do that from time to time?.. because android has services that load up from time to time like messaging, scoreboard apps, widgets and stuff like that; that are constantly running. apple on the other had does not allow that kind of stuff, just square app icons on every screen you have so no lag.
my droid runs like crap a lot because i have tons of stuff running on my home screen but my gf’s on the other had flies compared to mine because she does not have any of that stuff and very few apps
Nobody ever mentions the ‘lag’ on a Android device. I see it on everything I have ever used, and just about any through video showing a new Android device. The ‘hardcore users’ dont care about random lock ups, issues, and lag. They usually chalk it up to too many background apps, and random shit running that you need to always be worrying about and monitoring.
Honestly, if you aren’t into tweaking every single setting ever, get an iPhone. Brand new out of the box, Android devices feel slow to me. The screens are cheap, poorly calibrated, and have poor viewing angles. Battery life is USUALLY worse than iPhone 4, nobody offers more internal storage, the internal storage is massively faster than a micro SD card, and the iPhone is the smallest.
I don’t give a shit about tweaking the fonts, colors of text, and over clocking my phone. I want to be able to do basic tasks as easily and enjoyably as possible…
My OG Droid definitely has noticeable lag. My fiance’s droid incredible has ZERO. That thing is super fast. The new nexus S is hot too. That thing flies, I tested it pretty thoroughly at best buy and was REALLY impressed.
Based on what you said, it sounds like you’re making an argument for the iPhone? So the droid has services that load up and prevent the phone from functioning properly, and that is a perk? No thanks. The phones I’m using are split between huge nerd heavy users and people who just surf occasionally and don’t do anything productive on them… and the same experience on both.
My boss receives about half of his calls, and rarely receives his e-mails… let alone notifications for missed calls and stuff. I feel bad for him.
I was using PDA Net on a D2 and it froze… to the point where the battery had to come out of the device. Then upon reboot… had to be just shut off and put somewhere before I smashed it because it still wasn’t working properly.
What is the explanation for the horrible video quality between the 2 when using the YouTube app?
Now, coming from a PC/anti-apple guy… I know the argument is that you should buy a Mac because it will never slow down like a PC… the droid is starting to sound like a PC and the iPhone sounds like the hypothetical magical apple product.
Not to mention that I have actually considered getting the new iPhone from AT&T based on the ridiculously faster internet speeds, compared to Sprint and VZW. Those 2 are incredibly slower than what I’ve seen from AT&T.
Unfortunately, VZW’s 3G speed are about .5-1mbit down, .1 to .2 up, whereas ATT 3G is more often in the 1-4mbit range down, .5-1.5 up…
At home, I have 2-3 bars of ATT 3G. I usually run about 3-5mbit download, 1-1.5mbit upload. Thats essentially standard cable internet speeds…
But if youre a new user on ATT, you get fucked with a $25 ‘data pro’ plan that has a 2GB cap. Useless for heavy users.
And yes, just about any Apple product ever made is very good at what it does do. May not do it all, but most tasks are handled well.

i always get my emails and stuff so your bosses phone must be messed up and he should exchange it. i have never had a problem with the quality of the youtube app, it is always on the high-res setting if the video allows for it
