TB HDD - nerdiness

I just saw this on newegg, completely baller

but price is too much, you could buy several smaller ones and get about the same space for less if you have the physical space

Price isn’t that bad, I’m sure they’ll come down FAST.

I’m gonna say by December 1/2 that price sounds about right.

I like that it has 32mb of cache! When a 500GB has 32MB, im buying one. Quick read/write anyone? Slowly… they’re narrowing the gap of the bottleneck that the hard drive creates!

unless I decide to go flash memory, then even better!

we just got in 5 750’s… nice to have… i wanna tb one now

I cant wait for a few years when TB hard drives become standard.

my question is who could fill all that up on a personal computer if they were not pirating stuff

a decent sized architecture firm? a blueprinting/scanner/printer company that saves everything?

thats why i stated “personal computers”, computers that people use at home for personal use, a company could fill these easily

Lossless music, DVD backups, digital photos. It all adds up quickly. A 200 DVD collection alone would fill a TB drive.

I could. I have a mythtv box. Plus I rip all of my music to flac and my dvd’s to xvid.

ya recording tv would take up a lot, my music only takes up 30gigs , most of my hdd space is consumed by software(games) and DVD “backups”

My digital photo’s take up alot. I like to keep photos in their full size format, and also their cropped size. So it fills alot of space.

I can imagine Micah uses 20x more than what I use and I know I have quite a bit stored.
