When I moved her in late Sept I was looking for a nice gym. Saw that the BAC was close to me (downtown one is less than a mile away) and decided to take a look. They offered me a free day and it seemed fine. So I signed up for a 3 month deal @ 99 dollars.
Well after the first day I realized I didn’t like it and that a friend of mine is a trainer at Golds Gyn on Wehrle. And even though Golds was like a 10 minute drive, it was much nicer and cheaper (with the friend hookup).
So I went back to the BAC and told them the situation and they said yeah no problem you can cancel AND get your money back because its within 3 days of enrollment. That I had to fill out a piece of paper, etc. I filled it out and they said it had to be mailed and not dropped off. So I mailed it on October 6th. Well I check my credit card statement and I got billed 99 dollars and another 39 dollars.
So I called em up and was like wtf is going on. Well they claimed they never got my paperwork and that I wasnt eligable for a refund or anything. So I got pissed cuz 130 dollars is one expensive day of working out.
I went there and showed them my contract and they said they didnt sign me up for 3 months the guy that signed me up did the wrong contract and that the 99 dollars wasnt for 3 months but was the “initialization” fee and that wasnt refundable. And they claimed also since they never “got” the paperwork that they couldnt stop the contract, etc.
Well I call today and bitch and get the supervisor of the billing area and explain I was told by the GM of the downtown club that it was fine and should be reimbursed, and she straight up tells me no. They will not refund anything and that they did get my paperwork a month ago but someone had put it elsewhere.
By now I’m pissed and realize I’m gonna take a $130 hit for one day of working out because their company is bullshit and despite what their general manager says their billing dept still won’t credit me.
So big thumbs down to the BAC and their company. I even told em I’d take a gift card, or something that I could sell to someone, that way I make some of my money back and they keep business. But they said “call back and maybe”
So right now I’m at the point where theres not much more I can do besides get it off my chest.
No, just go down in person, and tell them what happened. You will not pay $ 130 or $ 140 or whatever for one day of working out, you want the refund. Done. Do not leave until you speak to multiple managers, owners, etc.
Edit: Trust me they don’t want you down at the front desk complaining while they are trying to signup new members and keep current members happy…
i was at the front desk complaining, the GM personally gave me the go ahead, and said to tell the lady I was sent by him personally, they even talked on the phone in front of me, and after it the billing manager told me there was nothing she could do.
Which was BS cuz the downtown GM that had signed me up gave her an OK and she still said no.
I also went back down and told him what she said and he goes, well the billings out of my hands now if they cant do it then I aplologize
i was gonna, but the post office was closed and i had to get it out asap. proly shoulda dished out 10 bucks for overnight and confirmation… but they at least have it now, so we shall see what they will do
BAC is famous for this kinda crap. They stung me twice once in the early 90’s then again in like 2004 (i figured they changed–duhhh) Call better Business Bureau see what they say. The owner is local so you might get somewhere.
They will tell you to send them whatever proof/documentation if BAC fights your dispute. Send them the proof (it better be good), and no problems. If BAC doesn’t dispute… no problems
I <3 Fitness Factory. Paid a one time fee and I’m set for a year. And the fee was a whopping $349 for the whole year. It was so cheap that I don’t even feel that bad about being a lazy bastard and hardly ever going.
