Tein EDFC

anybody actually use this?

Im getting more and more annoyed at the all teh time ride quality of my h&R coil overs, and was thinking of changing the setup, and possibly going with some tein coilvers + edfc… so i can change the dampening from the cabin… is the differance actually noticeable? or is it just fine tuning?

it’s noticeable in the same way that adjusting any true coilovers will soften or firm up the strut rebound. In knowing that you should also see the weakness is that you’re only solving half of the problem. As you know there really is a “correct” strut valving that matches with the springs and other characteristics of the car. So you end up finding a setting that works well and leaving it there. The problem is that you would need to adjust the spring rate also which is just not possible…

For your kind of use I would recommend a progressive spring… nice and soft under most conditions, but fights back a little harder when you need it. You might even be able to keep your current setup and switch to a progressive spring that starts out softer than what you have and ends up firmer.

no matter what you’re playing a game of compromise.

The difference is quite noticeable in terms of ride quality, but the EDFC is quite expensive and not really needed. The spring rates on the Teins are quite low, so i guess you would get the ride quality you want, but you might bottom out constantly if you are riding low.

I suppose you could get custom spring rates on the teins, but i think they charge you around $100 to do that, and theyre already over $1k.

The EDFC system is nice, but i dont see the use as i would just set it to where i like and keep it there.

it takes less than a minute to adjust conventional coilovers… the only advantage of the edfc is if you want to compare settings back to back without getting out of the car (unless the convienience is really that important to you)

you have the same adjustability that you would have if you went out and adjusted them manually so the adjustability is determined by the coilover you choose

i have it and love it for on the fly adjustments plus it is quite a pain for me to adjust them without it since i have to take parts off to get at the adjusters

Yeah but a lot of companies make their own version of it now, and they are fairly cheap compared to overpriced TEIN products…

Then, it might be practical. But i still wouldn’t consider it unless the coils are hard to adjust due to your cars config.
