I just bought this car a little over a week ago. Had planned to get it on the road soon, but was promptly laid off from my job. Don’t have the extra cash to get it on the road, and don’t really have a need for it if I don’t have a job. Not definite on selling it yet, but figured I’d throw it up here to test the waters. It’s a 95 with a little under 120k, 5-speed. Runs and drives real well. Pretty quick for a big car. The tires are on it are decent, has upgraded larger brakes on the front. Have new brakes for the rear when it needs them. Leather interior in decent shape, except for a large rip on the driver side seat. Power seats. Hard-button climate control, although I don’t think the ac blows cold any more. The previous owner did attempt to fix some rust over the rear wheel wells. Paint isn’t an exact match, and it’s not the best job by any means. Doesn’t look horrible, but trying to disclose everything I know. Has some rust along the inside of the bottom of the doors, and the trunk lid. Needs a piece (pictured) replaced over the rear bumped. Have sourced them at $40 in the same color on SHOforum. Stock rims have been painted black. Just has the stock tape player in it. That’s about all I can think of at the moment, but it’s late and my brain doesn’t seem to be functioning fully. Will update the thread if anything else comes to me. Has working cruise. These are the only pictures I have at the moment, but I can get some better ones in the next day or two. $1800.
Any record of any of the 60k services being done? Leak anything that you have noticed yet? Any oil in the plug wells? How old is the clutch?
GLWS man, sorry to hear about the layoff. This was my favorite year (had a '95 MTX myself) and the Yamaha 3.0 is a revver!
I don’t have any records on it. Haven’t noticed any leaks. Don’t know on the clutch, and haven’t pulled the plugs or anything. Sorry I can’t be of any more help with my answers, I don’t know a whole ton about it with the amount of time I’ve had it.
Someone tell somedude, I’m pretty sure he just totalled his SHO.
Possible trades for a truck for my dad, or a decent car with working ac for my girlfriend who’s moving to Florida.
Nope he SHO is safe and sound. Now for something else…
tempting… kinda looking for a fun, affordable four door with a stick! How does it look underneath - any problem with rust under there? What else does it need to get on the road besides rear brakes??
Doesn’t need the rear brakes, just have them for when it does. I looked under it as best as I could, haven’t had it on a lift or anything, but didn’t look bad. It had a fresh inspection when I bought it, so I’m assuming it’s good to go.
just a couple notes for anyone who might be interested. There are a few items that this car should have that make it more desirable to someone seeking a SHO. This car should be equipped with a rod shift which has a shorter throw and doesn’t break like the 89-91 cable shift is know to do. 1995 is the only year that came with the hard button EATC (climate control) the soft button in 92-94 cars ALL have the buttons broken because they were made too thin. Sway bars should be 20mm/20mm a quick upgrade to a 26mm rear bar and some sticky tires and you will have a fun tail happy track car. 94-95 cars got upgraded front spindles which are often fitted with the 11.6" brake upgrade from newer year SHO’s and that is all that is required for track duty if they have the correct part number pad equipped (# changes pad swept surface). Pics suggest 11.6" upgraded brakes are present.
Do you know if this has a quafie by chance? If it does PM me I will come and get the car
Someone buy it and come to track day with me!!!
was just at mm u pull it they have the exact same car in there same color with that back piece and its in good shape just lettin u guys know say it and remebered your post
Wish that was around here. I’ve been told they’re real hard to come by around here, especially in the same color. I’d get a bunch of stuff off it. And no, I don’t know on the quafie, but highly doubt it. Thanks for putting up all that info.
Nobody?
interested… but just trying to fugure out how long i would be on the couch after wifey hears of another car!!! but atleast this one has roomy back seat for the kiddos… i love the SHO’s and always wanted one (not the 96+ ones)
Probably the V6’s best year. 4000 RPM and the car wakes right up. Lots of fun to drive, too.
$1500
