Thank god for good brakes and handling

So i’m in the firebird driving up 79n last night trying to enjoy one of the last nice weekends of the year. I get a few miles past cranberry, just cruising around 75mph or so and a deer walks out in front of me. It came from the left and walked right in front of me. I hit the brakes and managed to swerve into the left lane, a little sideways, but i still caught it back legs with the right front corner of my bumper. Fortunately there was only a little scrape on my bumper. Had i been in my dakota i would probably not have been able to avoid it and I’d be looking for a new front end now. Just thought i’d share. Makes me think i should start hunting.

damn deer. glad you got out of it with just a little scrape

mmmm dont u just love thirdgens? if that happened to me with my skinnies/slicks on, i’d probly would have totalled the car. i cant wait to put on the street tires again but havent picked up lugnuts yet lol

I havent owned too many cars that are supposed to handle really good but the firebird is definately the best handling car i’ve ever had. Although i’m sure it would suck on skinnies and slicks!

glad you barely hurt the car. could have been much worse.

I’ll be sure to mention this to my wife since she wants an SUV (and I don’t).

Glad I could help. :bigthumb:

Could of been worse situation. glad no onegot hurt in the quick lane change or yourself.

It’s just a car.

fuck brakes and handling, its all drivers reaction and control.
nice job

Had what looked like a family of 4 deer walk out in front of me on the way home tonight…decent sized buck and 3 smaller ones…slammed the brakes and got lucky that I stopped in time though no handling involved haha…

I heard it doesn’t affect insurance premiums, plus you get the option of keeping the animal you killed.

With the above in mind, I aim for the bastards in my Jeep. Free venison, free new front end, win win!

cool you avoided it…swerving @ 75MPH is a bit scary.

If other cars had been around i would have had to hit it instead of swerving. The thought of hitting a deer straight on at that speed in a firebird is kind of scary. Theres a good chance it would have ended up inside the car with me. That would suck. I dont need a new front end that bad.

Ha if I had something bigger then my car I might do the same thing. I’m scared of the consequences when the one I hit is a huge buck though.

x2 for aiming at them in a big JEEP

Then I’d jump out and shoot it in the head. The cops have to actually call in and ask for clearance to do it. I’m sure citizens aren’t supposed to, but I doubt they’d really care if it was already done when they got to the scene.
