Thank you Mr NYS Trooper

Damn that sucks. GL

Experiences will vary.
You have like 10 threads on here about run-ins with the cops, most of which did not turn out in your favor.

I’ve had enough experiences to know, that as long as you do the speed limit, you’ll be relatively fine.

I slowed down a little after my 50th or so infraction… nothing over the speed limit will catch you a break… I think I’ve tried them all. I’ve paid out more in speeding tickets than some of the people on here will make in a year… or 2.

I do 74 on the 400, 67 on the 90,190 and 290. Works fines. I drove to Cape May NJ a couple weeks ago, had the cruise set at 76 the whole way, no issues.

What they need to start patroling is Mo-Fos camped out in the left lane that think its their right to stay there bacause they are doing 2MPH over the speed limit.

Are you sure? I was in Western Texas on the 20W driving towards Pecos on a business trip. The speed limit was 80, and my co-worker who was driving the Chrysler 300 rental :pimp:got pulled over by a female officer and was told he was doing an 82 in an 80! He got a warning after we explained to her that he has the cruise control set to 80 (which he did) and that the speedo must be off. After we got pulled over we used our GPS to verify that the speedo was screwy.

I found your problem.

After about 7 tickets, a fair share of dollars and the time and hassle of going to court for said speeding tickets, I realized that it was much more practical to leave 5 minutes earlier, go the speed limit, and save that cash for other things.

No tickets in 3 years.

WIVB ran a story today/yesterday about speeding and aggressive driving enforcement being stepped up on the 290:

TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Local police departments say they’ve had enough with reckless drivers on the 290.

In an effort to stop aggressive driving, New York State Troopers and Amherst and Town of Tonawanda police are kicking off a safety initiative with an aggressive driving enforcement program.

Representatives from the New York State Department of Transportation were also on hand Monday morning off Millersport highway.

Officials say this new safety initiative will focus on increasing enforcement on the Youngman Memorial Highway throughout the summer.

They say the Youngman is somewhat of a breeding ground for aggressive behavior behind the wheel.

“Interstate 290 carries about 112 thousand vehicles a day and experiences an average of 200 total accidents per year. Of these accidents, about 99 accidents a year, almost fifty percent of the total, result in injuries,” said Al Taylor of the New York State D.O.T.

Coming up Monday on News 4 at 5, News 4 will have more details on this joint effort by our local law enforcement to keep you safe on the roads.

Bump

Holy shit, I’ve never seen so many troopers on the 290. Had to go from the 990 to Delaware and back today and I swear I could have jumped from cop car to cop car the whole way there.

They’re set up on the delaware ramp going east too doing reg/inspection/seat belt checks. I rolled up, my new exhaust going "blat blat pop pop blat blat " on idle decel before I thought to punch the clutch in thinking to myself “FML”. Trooper was real cool though, asked me how I liked the GTO and how much HP it had. I looked back as I was merging and he was watching, debated about getting on it a little bit but figured while he’d appreciate it one of his many buddies probably would not.

I remember reading an article from an ex-detective…saying “speeding” is kind of a black sheep to cause of accidents.

When in reality it’s not necessarily speed that caused the accident. FOR EXAMPLE.

A car runs off the road and hits a tree. Cause: Speed. REAL CAUSE: driver error, distraction. (it’s just much easier for a cop to say speed was the main factor)

A car rear ends another car. Cause: Speed. REAL CAUSE: driver was not paying attention (but it’s much easier for the cop to fill out the report for speed)

usually gets me a state trooper sticker every year. i am yet to get 2009

I get mine every year! and my PBA honorary member card.
