I did deadlifts yesterday, only 235lbsx5 again, i really feel like im about to drop the weight, maybe i should buy straps to use for the last heavy set??? Idk, it just feels heavy and maybe mentally i think well… its already pretty heavy, i doubt 10 more lbs will be worth the gains… I really dont want to hurt myself doing them.
Also did Widest grip Lat pull downs, I like them alot, i can see the lowest part of my lats start to be more visual. I gotta still do something with my arms, they are just not growing… or maybe they are idk, not as fast as the rest of me? lol
this thread is making me want to buy a gym membership.
I have a feeling if I drop my last 50lbs thru working out it will be more of a benefit than dropping it slowly by just eating right.
get some straps, widen your feet a bit. do a set something like this 5 x 60% total, 5 X 70%, 3 X 80% , 2 X 100%, 2 X 100%. something along those lines. your last 2 sets you want to be fucking heavy.
I usually do everything with Progressive overload, so each set becomes harder and harder, I aim for 8 reps trying to gain some size and strength, then again deadlifts are more for strength, but either way… So i do 8 reps of say 180, then 8 reps of 200, then 8 of 220, but by the time i want to step up again, my forearms are sore and can’t keep up i guess lol, and then it scares me thinking i might get sloppy, so i end my last set @5reps lol. And those sets don’t count my warm up sets, which is like 2-3 of 135-155lbs.
IMO, you are doing too many reps. keep them to a max of 5, and go lower as you go up in weight. get some straps, make sure your feet are a little more than shoulder width, angled slightly out, with some flat shoes or no shoes.
Well, I know i’ll pull more weight that way, i guess i should start using the deadlift more for strength to begin with, but everything for size says 8-10 reps, so i guess i was also using it there. If i only do five reps the whole time i could probly do like 250lbsx5, especialy with straps.
This is the formula I followed during bulking and i gained a good amount of weight. my deadlift max went from like 225 to 365 in a matter of like 2-2.5 months.
Get some straps asap. You work the deadlift to hit your entire back, a little bit of hams, traps, etc…If your forearms are giving out, then you will be only half-assing it.
so, as a direct result from powderkeg this weekend and getting to rockstar-status-drunk, i injured my wrist. due to this i decided to stop lifting and move on to marathon training a bit early.
just over 10 miles, mix of elliptical and treadmill on Monday, and was doing the same yesterday when at about mile 9 my nips decided they had had enough and went all chaffed.
totally forgot about that.
(i do a mix of elliptical and treadmill to minimize the stress on my hips ((ive had 2 hip surgeries)) and lower back ((I pulled my sciatic nerve last year training and almost had to sit out the marathon)) ).
Right now im doing that in ~1:30, so I really need to up my pace in order to hit my goal of 13.1 in 1:30-1:40. of course, thats indoors on machines and i really dont trust those things to be real world representations of running outdoors.
Im not nearly as far as i wanted to be by now, i missed 4 days this week already because of the flu so im just going to end my cycle now and load creatine and shit this week
prob going to start hardcore training at the start of next week, listening to super siq hardcore fbod music of death and getting fuckin PUMPED!!
And probably going to be adding another set to each workout, as well as adding 2 new forearm exercises , and another bicep and tricep exercise. I need to find 1 or 2 more chest exercises too that i can do with my available workout aread
You really don’t need to load creatine so i have read… and i hope you have mono hydrate, not some other pixie dust product. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=Trinitine&aq=f&aqi=g-s1g9&aql=&oq="]Trinitine - this is what i use, yes its not mono hydrate but it is amazing stuff, i gained like 10lbs in like 2 months, but alot im sure was water weight. It really works i can feel my throat getting dry if i dont drink enough water. Also my poops get hard and dry too, just so you know it works
I didn’t get much stronger from the creatine, but i recovered a hell of alot faster using it! And its cheap, and its pills so its easy to take!
Yeah, i need to go shopping for food, buying lunch everyday for work makes me broke!
Incline fly’s/dumbbells, decline bench, Straight arm dumbbell pullovers(on the pull over’s suck your transverse abdominals in and you can feel them being worked out too!
do you guys have any magical advice for somebody who is cutting that will help me maintain my strength? I’m progressing just great at dropping weight and I have plenty of energy, but my max rep on just about everything is down a little.
my goal is more beach, but I want to continue to go up in strength over time. When I get down to my weight goal I don’t want to spend the next 3 months fighting to get back to my previous max reps.
theblue: try mixing it up… 8-12 reps one week, 12-15 reps the next
does anyone actually stretch? when i went to the gym like two years ago i swear i was the only person that ever stretched… i can nearly touch my knuckles to the ground now keeping my legs straight…
what about abs? i’ve got a pretty nasty circuit i do twice a week with about 7 different exercises… once the weather gets warmer ill start doing more plyometrics… i usually grab a magazine from tops that mentions some new crazy sick ab workout on the cover and follow that for a few months
