did some somewhat light lifting with drew at the gym last night. wrist still hurts… bummer.

that stinks, my back has been weird lately, im blamming it on my chair i sit on all day!!! UGH i have poor posture because of sitting all day at work!

I am so sore. FML

So, what percentage of your weight do you think you are lifting when you do a push up?

About 35-40%

65% I would think legs are heavy, the femur is one of the strongest bones in your body.

Grab 2 scales and put one hand on each and do see how much weight comes up.

It ain’t even close to 60%. Your forearms don’t move at all, you feet don’t move at all, and your lower legs move an inch or 2. Don’t believe me? Drop and do as many pushups as you can, touching your chest to the floor. Now go to the gym on chest day and rack 65% of your bodyweight and repeat. You’'ll be sucking wind and do about 10 less reps.

You guys are forgetting something HUGE.

When you do a pushup your body is stabile with 4 points of contact, and it is in a mechanically friendly position to push without relying on stabilizer muscles to control anything… When you bench press, your hamstrings flex to control the weight, your lower back tightens to maintain control, and you r front, side, and rear delts are all in play maintaining the weight directly above you. All of these factors comeinto play.

I do 127% my weight when I do pushups

Yeah that’s great. I can hear the push-up to 1 rep max conversions now. Gee, I weigh 200 and can do 20 push-ups, that means I can do 120 for 20 reps which means I can max at 225. Then watch as the weight puts a nice concave dent in his chest as he tries it. But google said I could?

What brand caesin are you getting?

255 is my new max for bench press as of a couple hours ago. I wana hit 275 before may.

I don’t know what my max bench is but i did 205lbs x2 yesterday, i almost had a 3rd but my friend had to spot me, i think 215 i could do 1 time probly. I weigh 160lbs i think i don’t bench that much.

my recent new adventure has been with Control Labs Purple Wraath. absolutely TERRIBLE nutrisweet taste, (if you like diet soda, you’ll be fine) but it’s really helped. I’ve got twice the jam in the tank in my workout. i’m not lifting anymore weight to speak of, I’m just able to maintain my entire workout instead of dragging ass the end of the week and able to put up more sets than before.
