What is the legality status of swapping in California? You can swap up and not down in years I presume. What other implications are present?
Same basic rules as in NY: the engine must be the same year or newer, the proper emissions equipment needs to work. You just have to seen an inspector to get it signed off that all the bits are there.
But my volvo is pre-75 so none of that matters.

It’s definitely not close to being ‘finished’, but I want to get it to a state where everything at least has one pass at it then go back and tackle the things that need it, instead of taking years to do it all at once. The rough plan is to drive it for a few weeks then take it apart and paint the bay/floors/trunk. We’ll see what crops up in the mean time. I have no idea how the brakes will handle and it’s about 1-1.5" higher than stock due to the drive train being lighter and the springs sitting on top of the larger tube of the 8.8, among other things
