We’ve been a bit slow getting content onto our “home” page. The vB CMS is a cool feature, but we haven’t been paying much attention to it since there are other things we’ve been working on.
So what we’ll be doing is this; if you make a post, a thread or a Blog (for those with access) that stands out or is popular with other forum members, we’ll be promoting it on the home page. I’m not going to lay out exact qualifications to get your posts up there but take a look at what we’ve promoted so far and you’ll get the idea.
NYSpeed users will notice the “Best of NYSpeed” section is gone… but the threads are not! Any thread that was in there has been moved to its respective forum and sticky’d. And any thread that was in there is also an article and part of the home page. So instead of going to the best-of section, just click the “home” button and it will take you to the same place… just with a different look. At the bottom of each article is a link to the thread in the forum so you can continue to comment & read.
Since the home page only shows a few articles at a time, eventually the oldest ones will be pushed off the home page BUT remain accessible via the categories on the right side. For example, the Muscle50 call-out thread doesn’t appear on the home page but can be found under “member articles.”
One other thing to note is that we had a little snafu with an old mod we were running that allowed the thread replies to also be considered comments on an article… but it was coded poorly and was causing double posts with this latest vB update so we pulled it. That’s why some of the items on the home page only have a handful of views and no comments while others have lots of views.
