The lot 2008 Discussion.

don’t really get how you can relate doing illegal mods to car to illegally running a public lot like it’s private.

Oh well, I should keep my mouth shut since I’m not a lotter.

I may also go up there and get a group of people i know to come with me as well. :thumb

No one runs any lot like its private. I know some people tossed those ideas up here, but reality is that none of that will be happening.

Ive said it before and ill say it again, the troopers and sheriffs in CP were very tolerant of us being at the park and ride. At night the lot is unused and were do not interrupt any traffic or business.

maybe I just took you saying “our” a little too literally.

Didn’t someone bring a grill to the park and ride once? I’ve never heard of any issues there.

I will volunteer to be the cook at the even considering my car will be out of commision. I will be rolling around in a van with a huge stereo in it. I could bring stuff that doesn’t typically fit in a car but would need use after run or at a meet. Think of my services kinda like a pit crew will all you guys make fun of me for not having a car. :crackup Just a thought and try to to bash me for volunterring.

Yea, I brought a grill and some hotdogs. I remember the trooper pulled in and asked what was going on… we offered him one. lol

He ended up parking and talking with people for a bit. “whats that ‘whoosh’ sound I hear some cars make?” :lol

JClark made a good point earlier in this thread. You guys don’t bring any business any money or any reason at all for you to be there. How come more ideas of hang outs aren’t being tossed around to hang out at restaraunts? I heard people saying earlier in this post there’s no where to park at L Ken’s, it gets too packed.

Solution: Get there earlier!

I’m a member on CA-VA forum and they have meets every week at different locations each month, granted it’s a club board, it still works and car enthusiasts can still gather together.

I think people should be gearing their efforts on get togethers at establishments where you can sit down, grab a bite to eat or drink and share your interests of cars and build a relationship with some place that will welcome you. You’ll quickly filter out the idiots that way too because restaraunt owners won’t tolerate them.

I like the restaurant idea, also another idea could be Guptil’s on Route 9, I’m sure if someone asked for permission from the owners(who are there every night of the week), they would let us go there Fridays and Saturdays.

ROFL!! JClark dropped Mean Muggin’. I love it.
But yes, I agree  Even though lately it seems I’m restricted to “talking about how fast my latest setup will be when I’m done with it.”
I WANT to be done with it so badly, I swear. I just want it to run without incident. Please. God. Karma. Someone.

You know how I do.

To tell the truth, I haven’t been around the lot this past year at all. Why? Because bikers have a nice little solid place over at Dunkin Donuts on Lark street. The owner is cool with us there, we buy and get hooked up on DD products, we get our own spots, and there are no idiots. We travel as a group to hang out downtown Albany on club nights, go to I love NY pizza in troy, Saratoga or just plain riding. Works like a charm everytime.

The lot was in a desperate state this year and it’s sad that it has come down to it. If we don’t try to get a good spot going for us (weighter a park and ride, or restaurant) all we will have is an upstate on line community, and we will meet on race days at Valley and SCCA and that’s about it.

Restaurant is a great idea, granted we can find one that would want us around. Anybody know of a car-guy restaurant owner, or any place that is somewhat car themed or related.

Any entrepreneurs out there want to start a car themed restaurant, where he will allow car people to hang out? ;D I know there is plenty of demand but no supply. I’m not expecting anything from this, but it sure would be unique and most likely profitable if somebody did. Some car themed restaurant, with mufflers on walls, and Turbo Shakes. :banana

But I digress.

I know a car guy who owns a great place to hang out, even hosts classic car shows 2-3 times a year but I’m hesitant to put anyone in contact with him because I’ve seen how the local lot crew leaves the place when they are done.

Well here is the thing. Do we want a place for everybody in the scene to hang out, or just the core group that we all know?

There is quite a major difference.

I know the owners personally, my girlfriends best friend work there,. actually this park and ride other places are getting to be a better option, as my girl lives up there in troy, and my project car(s) are there PLUS The people we invite or show up, will be tracked, i,e plates names, what ever, just non being CIA or FBI agents at the meet. lol

.

i;d say people we know and see how it goes form there

I could bring my portable grill, grabb some hot asain models, drinks, and boom instant party in a parking lot.

:banana :drink

But I digress… :lol

Since someone brought up the idea of going to the colonie center area. How about meeting up at the new Lowe’s in northway mall? Everything back there was just repaved and there lots a pretty good size, plus it not visable from central ave. You wouldn’t know anyone was there unless you took a drive back there. It wouldn’t be that bad to get there from the northway since all the exits are right at wolf rd. anyways.

Just a thought…

People used to hang out back there in front of the Target. It did not last, people complained and cops patrol it like crazy over there. No matter where you think you can “hide” because it’s off Central Ave, you can’t. The cars are loud and people will take notice to the volume of those types of cars coming and going. Cops will take notice to it in no time.

Yeah but theres a difference in hanging out up front. I work back there at night and ride my quad constantly through there. Never had a problem with cops patroling through there much. At night theres no one there around after 10pm except overnight workers, and they could careless. Like stated before, its just a matter of how people act.

Well then lemme do the honor of presenting you guys with this since i hate colonie

What’s the difference besides 1,000 feet back? Cops patrol it dude, I don’t care how many times you ride your quad through there, it’s a public place. I’m willing to bet anything that any spot you think is off the beat and path, law enforcement is going to know about it whether it’s Police who may surf on here occassionally or they see tuner cars coming and going frequentely in a certain area.
