So which do you guys think is better and why. I’d like to know becuase I currently have ABS on my 240sx and intend to learn to drift and hit the track this year once she’s fully done. Obviusly for winter abs is much better but I plan to make this a summer only car.

just pull the fuse for the abs and see what you like better.

definatly no abs. i first pulled my fuse and found the pedal to be alittle spongy, not to menchan that ugly abs motor assembly. so i removed the abs motors and installed peportioning valves for front and rear. much better.
Are there any disadvantages/advantages when it comes to drifting or track with abs on/off?
Can you give more details on the 2nd part? My car came with abs stock but I don’t think it works… what do the peportioning valves do? I was thinking of getting rid of the ABS unit since it doesnt’ work anyways, do I have to replace it with those things?

ABS prevents/screws with threshold braking…
Some cars it’s not as bad as others… GMs it’s super sensitive and the handful of GM cars I’ve drove tended to kick in ABS with my regular driving…
As for track/drifting… well it really will depend on your skill.
If you’re good at braking then you’re better off without it since your judgement will always be better than a computer. If you’re a total newb then you might be better off with that measure of safety…
Is the braking any better with the abs unit removed? My abs doesnt work, never has but if i get enough input that its better with it removed ill get rid of it when i get some time.

a car with a good 4 wheel abs system will always brake better than no abs
S13s suck at life and S14s aren’t any better so the abs in these things often makes it worse than a decent driver could pull off
but the real reason i get rid of abs is because when shit hits the fan you cant use the brakes to lock up the wheels and slide the car in a straight line.
Take a spin for example. You know you’re gonna spin and you cant bring the car back straight. Even with full countersteer the car has too much momentum and is going to loop itself. Well without abs you can lock up all 4 wheels and slide in one direction, pretty much without turning at all. So if you do it right, you can lock up the brakes just so that the car will slide in a straight line (the car is still sideways, but its moving in a straight line) down the track to a safe stop.
Without ABS all you can do is tighten the radius of the spin. Slow the car down a bit maybe, but really all you’re doing is causing the car to spin even more surely and go towards the inside to who knows what. Maybe grass, maybe a curb or worst case a concrete barrier.
This reason alone is enough for me to get rid of ABS.
Reasons why ABS is better:
you wont lock up the inside front late braking into a corner
you wont flat spot your tires
no need for a brake bias control valve just slam the pedal and it’ll put as much to the rear as it can
brake bias is good in the wet OR the dry without needing adjustment
foolproof way to get maximum braking out of the car
So maybe the best thing to do is have a quick easy to access switch, you realize you’re in a spin and you flip the switch shut off the abs and lock up when you need to. Or when you feel like doing funky shit like sliding down a straight into a corner sideways
But remember, im tlaking about good good abs systems like the one that was in my moms GS. That thing was sweet. Down the shannonville back straight you could slam the pedal as hard as you wanted and it would out brake an M3. There was so much rear bias the back of the car would be doing the chicken all the way through the braking zone but fuck it felt so god damn sweet
