Yep.
Yep.
Anthony also unlocked the PCM on the Ultima and sorted that pile of a tune out as well.
the shop. lolz EVERY shop has their stories, all depends on who you talk to. I’m sure there are people that can say stuff about me as well, but in this line of work you certainly cannot please everyone. Without diving into it too much, I’ve rebuilt more than one motor tuned in their place. Shitty tune? Shitty driver? Just plain old shitty luck? Who knows really. Will I recommend someone to them at this point…nope.
Totally understand… Also believe part is what jdaniels said, tuners don’t want a customer to mess with the tune.
Customers would be messing around with the tune then all
Of a sudden something goes wrong and it’s the tuners fault.
Most timers save a copy of the tune , so proving if a cust changed it is easy
no relation to The Shop in Clifton Park, right? I saw a sign tacked on a telephone pole
I should post some pictures of that blue impreza I bought that had work done by the shop. Some of the things on it simply amazed me.
only legit dude at the shop is my boy kenny. john can’t tune evos. jimmy is ok.
There’s only 2 ways that I know of to do it.
1)brute force seed/key finding software
2)desoldering the chip and pulling the seed/key and re-installing it.
Both are something that 99% of customers aren’t able to do and for most people, it would be cheaper to purchase a new PCM than to pay someone to do it. It’s really an asshole thing to do, wish people would stop locking PCM’s.
i dont think hes ever been able to keep much of a job. lol
A home tuner would not be able to do it right . But if it is a in depth tune it sure is worth it getting it done . I don’t like the whole locking thing either but it is done for whatever reason more places are doing it so the cust has to come back. Prolly
sorry but 90% of tuners lock their tune. it prevents people from fycking with it and blowing their car up which puts the blame on the tuner.
Like I said its easy to prove if a tune was fucked with . Besides what tuner puts a warranty on there tunes ?
its not about a warranty. ill reply more when im not on my phone
protects the integrity of the tuning company/software.
car runs aem standalone, dumbass fucks with tune, car blows up. owner states aem software sucks
Bullshit. Most GOOD tuners will agree that locking a tune is complete horseshit. If we’re going to throw around bullshit numbers, 99% of tunes that are locked are hiding how LITTLE WORK they actually did.
On the tune being good, sure. On the car? FUCK NO. :lol
Or when you’re not pushing the envelope apparently
Well out of the three hks tuners i know they all lock software. They will unlock it though for another tuner. But you cant even get hks software anyways so its a moot point.
Maybe I’m a little more cynical. I think tuners lock their tunes that way customers aren’t able to download the map and hook up their friends with similar setups for a few bucks, in essence skipping the need for a tuner again and costing the tuners sales.
my tuner however, never locked my ecu before.
have fun with registrations. theyre all logged.
Stop rewording my posts.
