An LS1 F-body is a great, great car. It’s got loads of power, and it handles a hell of a lot better than most rice-lovers (myself included) are willing to admit. Dollar for dollar, an LS1 will be a faster car than a Supra.
Don’t get me wrong: A Supra handles a little better than an LS1, emphasis on “a little”. When it comes to power, however, you’ll need more money to make the same gains an “old fashioned” American V8 will make.
Tony, you’re a fucking idiot. Have you ever even driven a Supra or an LS1 f-body?
drag racing is most definately better with an auto when you are trying to go all out…but on the other hand if you know your car and how to properly drive it you CAN go just as fast…stock supra will pull 0.96g on the skidpad…a well balance suspension can easily take that over 1.01g on the pad. honestly however i dont think either a supra or an f-body belong on a auto-x track if thats what your hobby is…there are many other cars out there that can easily over take them and do it with a lot less of an investment…rwd still is fun on any course or road for that matter however
i dunno wut ur idea of a well balanced suspension is but if memory serves me correctly, in a turbo mag. issue a while back with the article Supra Stars 3 they did a feature on Nils Leufven (the owner of t04r.com) his suspension is more than well balanced it has probably one of the best setups u can buy. In fact in that article it says somewhere that he pulled 1.01g’s or sumtin close to that. So if this is ur idea of well balanced then good for u but if not get ur facts straight. U can go to t04r.com to get his complete setup.
i think you need to get your facts straight asshole…go onto supraforums and look at what people are doing on the skidpad with out-of-the-box Tein setups (which is what most supra owners buy) not some eibach spring. last year SCC did an article on it as well (august issue i believe). “Matt just mentionned pulled something like 1.03 on totally stock tires (BFG G-Force KD) and on a Tein HA suspension.” if you want…i can look up a few posts online of guys who have had their cars on a pad as well…i promise you wont find any below 1.01g. get YOUR facts straight. the top guy isnt always the BEST guy

hey fuckass that is wut he has BFG G-Force kd with HA’s so my facts r straight. Dont think that im trying to cut supras down bc i don’t like them cus i do, it is going to be prolly the first car i buy when i can afford one 100mph to 170mph in a blink of an eye sounds appealing to me.
Ur friend with the supra wouldn’t happen to be the kid in butler that previously owned the turbo m3, if so i met him at bimmerfest and he raced my friend jay in a m5 on the way back.
oviously you dont know what you are talking about… my car went 11.7’s on the stock turbos on drag radials is that slow?.. the turbo on my car now is good for 850rwhp… i dont consider that slow at all… why dont you check your facts before posting
forget a supra… get a v6 camaro if you want performance :jerkit:
yes that is the kid i am talking about…i was the other guy riding in the M3 at bimmerfest. the car is good for that and will be doing it shortly here when we go back out to Chris Rado’s next week. the car is a dyno queen true…but what people dont know is how well rounded of a car it is on the strip or road course.
ya…first time in over a year that ANYTHING has ever happened to that car like that…he doesnt own it anymore so we dont know who has been driving it or anything at this point…obviously someone was bottoming it out pretty badly since the coupler down there and everything was all torn up. oh well…still fun
A lot depends on the venue. I remember seeing the North Park AutoX out there, and really they’re never going to be able to setup a course there where even a very nicely setup and well driven Fbody/Supra can hang w/ like that crazy little hatch that is out there. It’s just too small.
The venue I run most is actually pretty damn big for an AutoX venue. This weekend even Fstock was into 3rd gear. The courses out there are always dominated by Ybodies ('vettes). My good friend Todd finaly picked up a well prepared Y after years w/ his Fbody. He dominated Fstock but once he moved the car way up to Street Mod it wasn’t totally competative. He still uses it for open Road Racing though… since the 'vette would be too expensive to Road Race for him right now.
