Had the democrats taken the senate I’d be pretty upset/worried right now, but with republicans very likely to hold it nothing radical is going to happen. No green new deal, no court packing, no gun confiscations and no reparations etc. You’ll definitely see some tax changes because elections do have consequences, but it will be similar to what you’ve seen since the midterms with Trump. A broken government that struggles to pass even basic reforms.
Frustrated by this Biden/Harris will likely try and push the radical agenda via executive orders. Thanks to Trump/McConnell we have a ton of federal judges and a strong conservative lean on the Supreme Court so that isn’t going to work.
In the “desperation 2020” file, Fox went from showing educated election experts looking county by county at their election HQ to interviewing morons at a pancake house in Green Bay. That’s all they have left for people they can put on air willing to say “Trump is still gonna win”. One dumbass was actually still talking about “the red tsunami”.
I reveled in watching CNN/MSNBC and all of them implode in 2016 so I’ll give that one to my friends on the left. I’m sure they’re having fun watching Fox scramble to find some way for Trump to still win.
It’s kind of crazy how much that 1 vote in NE hurt (they split their electoral like ME). Trump got all 5 in 2016, got 4 out of 5 in 2020. Without that 1 NE electoral Biden is sitting at 269 if he takes NV, WI, MI.
Because of that 1 split electoral in NE the results in PA, NC and GA likely won’t matter. Trump could win all 3 and still lose 270 to 265.
thedonald.win is just a lot of yelling about cheating from people that don’t understand the order of votes coming in. No, it’s not fraud that Trump is losing his lead as they couldn’t mail in and early votes in MI, WI and PA. Just like it wasn’t fraud when Biden had a huge lead in the states that were allowed to start counting last week only to see it disappear when the in person vote was tallied.
I agree with this, to a point. As long as there’s compromise, which hasn’t happened in a long time. It’ll just be four more years of obstructionist partisan bickering with nothing getting done.
I always have to point this out: our system wasn’t designed to get things done. It was designed to slow the process and lock up if sides can’t agree. This was always intentional and not some modern development.
The longer it takes to make a decision the better that decision will be.
It has definitely gotten worse in modern times, and it’s on both sides. You point to Garland, I point to the lack of a stimulus bill even getting passed when Pelosi’s own party was turning on her about it. There is no compromise anymore. Both sides dig in and say, “If I don’t get 100% of what I want I’m not going to support it”. The last stimulus pitch had a ton of stuff the right didn’t want, but because Nancy didn’t get every leftist dream she wanted in her version she refused to even look at it, almost as if she controlled all 3 sides, not just 1 out of 3.
It’s impossible to abuse a system that’s clearly working as designed. But you can certainly make an emotional argument that you don’t like the system when it doesn’t go your way.
This is the perfect example for the system working as intended. It turns out the longer we wait, we might not even need a 2nd stimulus. And while not getting one would be shitty for some, it’s also arguably better for the country as a whole.
