The Trump Presidency Discussion Thread (Non-Meme version)

I’m just over here waiting to see what happens to the tax bill in conference. Everything else is just noise.

But my friends cousins uncle does taxes and he says mine will go up 80%

Right? And I’m the one that’s triggered.

lol. You’re always the one derailing the thread because you can’t handle actually discussing opposing views. C’mon snowflake.

That’s funny, because I’m the one that listed a whole bunch of wins, looks like you’re the one off track. Maybe it’s easier to cry you’re being picked on than post an actual thought?

I’m just responding in between meetings. I promise we’ll get back to that. I don’t want to post something without having detail and sources behind it.

For your edit - You seem to be mistaken that I give a shit what you think of me. I don’t. My goal all along has been to try and keep people talking about the actual topics instead of being assholes to each other. This country has enough us vs them mentality and it doesn’t get us anywhere. Do you really not see that a lot of your comments are hypocritical?

Guys 'cmon. Attack ideas not each other.

Moving on… Who wants to make their call for Moore/Jones. Just straight pickem style, don’t worry about percentage etc. Who do you think wins?

I think Moore wins. Alabama is going to go, ā€œYeah, he’s creepy but he’s better than letting the dems get one closer to controlling the senate. Plus if any of this is eventually proven he’ll be removed and replaced with another Republican this way.ā€

I did really cringe at his wife’s, ā€œRoy’s not a bigot, one of our attorney’s is a Jewā€ comment. When I saw the headline I thought it had to be out of context, but nah, she pretty much said it just like that.

Video here:

I have no idea. But it doesn’t mater, the media will brand either result as a loss for Trump. That I can say with certainty.

The whole Moore thing is really weird. IMO, it’s a complete coin toss.

JayS, that’s a good point. If they stopped him from running, then the automatically give the seat to a Democrat. But if he wins, THEN they kick him out, they get to pick his replacement. So they (republican party/senators) have nothing to lose by letting him stay in the game and win.

HOWEVER, an Ethics probe can only look into complaints that take place during his tenure in the Senate. So what leg do they have to stand on, in terms of an investigation?

There is some sweet political chess happening right now…

The Al Fraken thing was amazing he really didn’t do anything horrible.

Democrats make him resign to take the high ground next day turn around and drop those 3 women on Trump and make a female democrat push the subject because she has no skeletons in her closet.

I wonder if this is the same group of women that showed up days before the election and then disappeared when the story didn’t stick.

There is no way to REALLY prove any of them.

Both Trump and Moore made the mistake of denying ever knowing these women, though. First of all, their positions put them in a place where they probably meet A LOT of people that they can’t possible remember meeting. So don’t deny meeting/knowing them, because you can’t guarantee it.

The best plan is admitting you may have come into contact with them, but still denying the accusation. That would invalidate the yearbook evidence, for the most part (other than the creepy wording). For Trump, I just saw that there is photo of him with one of the women, on the same day she claimed he came onto her. See the Photo of Donald Trump and Accuser Natasha Stoynoff

So again, by denying that they ever knew these women, they already proved that they are not being 100% truthful. And I’m not saying that makes them guilty, but it sure doesn’t help them prove their innocence.

Republicans in the Senate can’t kick him out once he’s voted in. There is no mechanism to do this and no way to simply choose who they want in his place.

Ethics probes are useless political theater. They have no legal standing and no real recourse. All it does is apply political pressure in one direction.

Technically, they can. Though it’s highly unlikely. This sums it up well.

This is a media wet dream and not even on our plane of reality.

Well, color me surprised. So much winning.

I never thought I would see Alabama of all places vote a democratic senator into office. Steve Bannon has really lost his touch.

I knew it would be close.

I hope that the Republican Party actually learns a lesson from all of this. We need QUALITY candidates, not alt-right nut jobs.

The Dems put out a candidate who could just barely by the skin of his teeth beat a child molster. LMAO. It shows the power of Trump. LOL

Yea I was surprised people are so happy about this

Won by some tiny margin against a person who the news has been reporting as a pedophile for weeks.

Yea mean barely losing with a horrible candidate  that isn’t setting the bar much higher
