Yup. Same story every time. The focus is always on his antics because that’s all there is. The idea of the president having tact and diplomacy is lost on a lot of people.

:picard: This dude ain’t playing chess…
I don’t honestly believe that either, lol.
But you do have to love the logic of it.
Talk about some mental gymnastics… It’s not that complicated. Again, most people know they are shithole countries, we just don’t want our President asserting that. Some things are better left unspoken.
shitholes is putting it mildly.
you cannot ignore the amount of slavery and rape that is going on over in africa right now. billions given to Haiti, nothing to show for it… full-corruption. Even Canada stopped aid to Haiti a while back due to corruption. there are protests against the clinton foundation’s aid there as well.
i know everyone wants to blame white people or the USA for all of it and i am sure there are articles out there that would support it but i’m sorry, it’s 2018. The path to not being a shithole nation is well-documented.
with respect to immigration, if you take all the good people from shithole nations and give them a better life over here you just further impair the shithole nation by taking away all the people with the wherewithall to GTFO.
What percent of Americans think there are shithole countries?
I love the news HOW COULD SOMEONE SAY THAT THE HORROR
I am planning a vacation in Haiti or El Salvador. WHO IS IN?!?
The problem is that there are a lot of Trump supporters who actually do believe Trump shooting off his mouth like this is a good thing.
Thread works again BTW.
It’s sad to think about how much stupid shit has happened in only 5 days.
So now we find out the Deep State even used Moby to spread BS on Trump?!?!? Where does this BS end?
can we get back to why the shithole nation comment is not only a good thing but how all those shithole nations are still shithole nations despite billions in aid?
Because aid doesn’t equal buying power. Economics are global, and if your GDP is is tiny (compared to nations that produce goods) and you have zero economy to grow your GDP, you’re basically SOL.
Then anyone with half of a brain emigrates to non-shithole nations, and the cycle continues.
its more complicated than that.
you have to collectively actually want to make a place better and follow the systems that build nations. there are plenty of people all over the world that have experience building systems who get paid to go to places to build systems.
however, if the native individuals genuinely do not care about building and following systems that are proven to work and instead they prefer to simply enrich themselves and either leave or stay and sit on top of a power structure they refuse to change (see Hussein, Ghadafi etc) then those systems cannot be changed from within.
This is further complicated by the fact that these shithole nations do what they can to stifle the development of good people who would be willing and capable to work in or build proper systems. these are the people that leave first.
What part of him acting like a douche is a good thing? Would you tell that to someone who is deployed in one of those shithole nations and has to deal with raised tensions because of their president lacking any sense of diplomacy?
i would expect that any one of those people knows well that it is a shithole, why it’s a shithole and that that is exactly why they are there in that shit hole.
And I say it as someone who descends from people who risked a great deal to escape various shitholes. Shitholes that are now not shitholes: some of them anyways. Former shitholes that Trump was not referring to.
Well, anyone in Niger is arguably already dealing with genocide so Trump calling it a shithole can’t make it worse.
Part of the reason they are shithole countries is because even semi-motivated people GTFO and we welcome them here. If we “encouraged” them to stay home their countries would develop better. (No, I am not joking)
I don’t think him calling them shithole countries was so bad. They are, we all get that. But saying why are we having all these people from those countries come here is more of the issue. Thats who we are as a nation, its our motto, taking in the sick, the hungry etc. He should have choose those words more carefully.
Either way taking in those people to this country will never fix the problems in those countries. That is unless, those people migrate here to become educated and then go back to their home country to try to fix the issues. That probably never happens though.
Ignoring the point seems to be a common theme with Trump supporters. No one argues that these places are wonderful. There’s a reason why people are leaving them.
However, the president should realize that individuals are to be assessed on their own merit regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, or birthplace. He doesn’t have an ounce of empathy for the people who are fighting to make a better life for themselves, just like your ancestors did, @bing.
