For GA law…i live here now and own a hand gun down here…to buy all you need is not to have a felony on your record and you can be in and out of a store with a hand gun in under an hour. To get a carry concealed, you need to apply at your county court office for it, takes about 60 days…guessing your fulton or dekalb county? Costs around a 100 i hear. I’m getting mine soon. As far as a gun goes, a 9mm will stop just effective as a .40 and cheaper to shoot. All depends on what ammo your using and how good of a shot you are. Also gun wise, you need what fits you best, what you feel most comfortable with, people can suggest glock all they want, but if it doesn’t fit you right, you will not be comfortable caring it. You best bet is to go to a range that rents a few you like to see how the best fit you and go from there. If your going to get one remember to know the laws of caring it, know how to use it, and use common sense and use it as a last resort. There are many places down here that offer training for caring as well. If you get one, let me know, i’m always up for people to shoot with.

Statistics show that if you shoot a 9mm and hit center mass compared to a .40 or a .45 center mass, the .40 or .45 is much more effective. A 9mm is def cheaper to shoot, generally holds more rounds but they’re just not as effective. Thats why you never see any law enforcement carry 9mm. Theres been documented cases where crims were shot up to 5 times center mass and kept running. 9mm pistols shoot a faster, smaller round which usually, unless hitting a major organ, blows right through you. Its all about the shape of the bullet. 9mm rounds dont mushroom like 40’s or 45’s. You see a exit wound from a 40 or a 45, they get to be close to a half dollar size. a 9mm exit wound is not bigger than the entrence wound.
