thinking about getting a skittle

wait…why can the cobalt be DD’d?

well i suppose the only smart thing to do would be never drive anything for 40 years then we can all buy veryons

“getting a big turbo kit and tons of cf work”

big fish in the cobalt pond YO.

I used an SRT4 as my DD for a few years (my Syclone was my good ride) and it was fun to drive and reliable (and as soon as the warranty was almost up, it was gone!). I drove it pretty hard and still got decent gas mileage and quite a few fun kills in it as well. But then again, I live in Florida and don’t have to worry about driving it in all kinds of shit weather and snow either. When I still lived in the B-lo I would buy 4.3liter 4x4 S-Series trucks and SUV to drive as my winter whips, can’t go wrong with 4WD in WNY.

Anyway, my point, SRT-4 was a fun DD, but I don’t think I would do it if I still lived in Buffalo! And yeah, for what I had into all the cars over the years I could be driving a Bentley, but who gives a fuck?

I’m not saying that you should never buy anything, but if I had waited and planned a bit for the past 4 years, I could have the ferrari that I ACTUALLY wanted, not some fggt poor man’s ferrari

oh. meh.

thats one thing i will never be is poor.
im not gonna put a ton of money into the car. just something to give it a little more get up and go thats all.

i know what you mean by saving and planning for the future, dont get me wrong thats all i wanna do. i work in the mortgage industry, i see it everyday when people over extend them selves and then end up losing there home.
trust me its not a fun job to have to call someone and tell them they are losing there house.

seeing that makes me understand that you need to have money to fall back on. which i do, and can still have fun with my car.

This reminds me of racing games when you can either put all of this money in your level 1 car then end up selling it for $5000 cause you have no use for it, or you just ride it out and save up for level 2. Don’t buy two level 1 cars.

i love your lotus!!
best handling car in the world lol.
i would love to have one.

This is exactly my point. You’re probably going to dump 10-15 grand into your cobalt, all said and done. plus what? 20+ that you bought it for?

You can buy a VERY nice used exige or elise for 35 grand, and one w/ higher miles for 6-10 less.

Would you rather have a fast economy car or “the best handling car in the world lol”?

well its not a huge turbo “gt30r”
and all the cf work im getting for half price cause im giving him my oem parts.
Hood, front and back lip, door sills, bow tie, door panels, side skirts, center console, fenders, and A and B pillars.

this isn’t about buying more house than you can afford, it’s about building a house worth 5 times what all the others ones are the same street are worth. if you still don’t get it, you probably never will (which is probably better than getting it 5 years from now and realizing what you have done)

i deff hear you there. why do guys gotta be right lol. it aint right lol

:word:

Maybe should have taken up that FD for a trade:nono:

i know what you mean. im not saying anything about buying more house then you can afford. im very frugal with my money. if i dont have it im not gonna go out and get a loan and pay for it that way or get a credit card and buy it that way.

This.

But I’m on board with ditching the SRT4 and SS and going with a cheap winter beater and a nice project. Buy Newman’s Lotus so he can pick up a 430?

I disagree. I hated having a project car and then a winter beater.

Unless by beater you don’t mean something thats all rusty with 150K on it but on par with like a newer impreza, civic, ranger, or something like that

I am trying to learn from others mistakes for once…

must…resist…buying…something…nice…till…after…college…

it’s not really hard to put the car scene on hold for a while if you have a comfortable, reliable DD that rocks in the snow and gets good gas mileage.

I’d maybe look at a nice slightly older Forester (maybe 01-03?).
