This way of life isnt looking bad

Question: How can I join the Amish community and become an Amish person?

Answer: Anyone can live in an Amish community by simply moving to where the Amish live in a specific area. If a person wants to join the Amish church, the person must move to an Amish community, live there for a length of time (which could be years), accepting the Amish and the Amish accepting you (it is really a mutual issue), being willing to live within the rules of the Church (Ordnung). To become a member of the Amish church requires a genuine religious commitment which is much more than just moving to an Amish community and living the Plain lifestyle of not using electricity, cars, telephones, etc.

idk about amish in particular but there are a couple menenite communities up the moutn from uniontown… they’re fucked up dude, fuckin weird, they have kidnapped ppl before to make them live the lifestyle.

one kid grew mad pot up there and no one caught him for a while since no one suspected an ‘amish’ kid.

amish have an internet site :bowrofl:
do we have any amish pittspeeders?   if so how much horsepower you runnin?

aye, english… my horse hath enou power to spank thy fey neon.

maybe… those horses are fast!

Amish workers are even better than Mexicans… they work for peanuts AND they do an amazingly good job, and they do it very fast. There’s a bunco out in Smicksburg and my grandma lived in Plumville. She’d hire them to do all sorts of random shit. Nice people. I’

your amish different than our amish then… they want mad fuckin money for anything. they are millionares and have all the creature comorts that we do… they use generators instead of having electric lines. i guess the government sees them as a third world type scenario and gives them money :dunno:

well ‘amish’ is really grouping a lot of groups that are not alike… there are menonites, true amish, lutheran amish and so on… tons and tons of different types.

i went to college aroundthe amish… there were times when amish boys and girls would come to frat party’s and drink… generally they were ‘clean’ (didn’t smell like horse shit) but they didn’tuse electric… they did use stores that use electric, which is not allowed for some… others ahve electric and phones… it just depends on what branch of amish you’re talking about.

what i saw was good amounts of amish people own a good amount of land for farms… after towns started growing, these amish were informed that they were sitting on big pockets of natural gas… so basically they allow the local gov to tap those lines and get paid for it, plus get free gas for their farms = hot water and stoves.

On another note…Up were I live our Amish are very nice people, they don’t steal people to convert them. They have a modular home biz and a VERY nice house appox 1800 sq ft goes for 80k. Which is dirt cheap. They are better workers and use better materials.
