I still think that aside from the fact that it’s unfortunate that he blew a motor, $55k is unreasonably expensive.
Isn’t the MSRP like 75-80k? Better off parting out his car and buying a new one. Hell, someone would probably pay $30k for the car with a busted motor.
I am going to assume it has something to do with how the engines are produced. Building the extra engines that are not going directly into a car probably takes up time and resources, thus causing the price to go up.
Or Nissan is losing a boatload on every GT-R sold.

Well, who knows, the $55k may include installation or a slew of other things, he kind of just throws the number out there in the thread.
Either way, its not like a crate ZR1 engine is free either though, or the 'vette racing motors. Expensive stuff.
Maybe the $55k includes a crap-ton of electronics, which we know the GTR has plenty of, and the rest of the drivetrain.

the motor is only 36k
Meh, a crate ZR1 motor is $21k. The slightly less powerful LS-A is $14k. $55, or even 36, is ridiculous.
yeah, let’s not forget that most of us don’t even drive $35k cars lol…half of this forum’s cars are probably worth one gtr piston.

The GT-R motor is quite a bit different than the LS9. I don’t think it is that far out there.
