because we NEED their natural resosuces. by stablizing the area and putting the right people in power we can get them easier and cheaper.

Never once, when we were going into Iraq did I hear anything about stabilizing the area so we can get cheaper resources. It was about “Weapons of Mass Destruction”. It was only after Bush was found to be a fraud, it was about natural resources. If from the beggining he said it was about oil, no one, especially congress would have let it fly. Plain, and simple.

but seriously, there are things that none of us will ever know about the situation. To say that Bush is “finishing his dad’s job” is just dumb. Saddam had been a problem long before bush senior got into it and had become a problem again, unfortunatly it happened to be bush jr the shit got stuck on. the administration in the middle was known to be rather limp wristed and let things get out of control.
That isn’t to say I agree 100% with the handling of the the rebuilding process there but we have to understand that there is a huge cultural difference that we are trying to bridge and set up a government that can be beneficial to everyone in the world, including the iraqis. The only other alternative would have been to simply take over and brow beat them into submission. Either way it would take MANY years for things to become comfortable there. We still have very active bases in both the Philippines and Germany even tho tensions have greatly relaxed in both areas.
In the end there is a little patriot inside me that can’t simply say that Bush is wrong…

What I hate is that Clinton lied about getting his knob sucked in the oval office and he was impeached. Bush lies about why we need to invade iraq nothing happens.
