I’m sure the judge is just a very old fashioned catholic and is stubborn in his ways… Like not being accepting of anything different, and only partaking in acceptable life styles such as drinking a lot of whiskey, and beating his wife. but at least he believes in catholicism’s lord!
I need to search out happier news to counteract the stupidity involved in this case.
Guys, relax… This will never survive the state court challenge, much less make it to the federal level. It’s one low level asshole judge who will probably find himself unemployed soon, much like that judge who sued for millions over a pair of pants. Low level judges are just publicly elected positions so sometimes you get some real bad judges.
jesus fucking christ.
did any of you look at the date this was published…
 No wonder I couldn’t find any information about that judge.
:picard:
lol
lol… well it was fun while it lasted…
if anything the lesson here is how recently in history we had things like this going on.
Yep, ya got me.
IFB?
Damn. I kind of wish there was a follow up to see how those “evil” atheist children turned out.
My first tip off was that the baby’s name was Eleanor. I think that name died off with FDR’s wife.
Well almost 40 years later, how did the case turn out?
Are you fucking serious?
Fuck this. I quit.
For those curious about the results, it was a rout. Multiple religious groups testified in favor of reversal, and even the amicus curiae supported reversal in this particular case to avoid trauma for the child (while at the same time supporting upholding the prior ruling in future cases). But it got overturned, so we can relax.

Nice find.
And good to see that the system worked. Weintraub’s opinion was especially scathing. You have to wonder what happened to the judge from the original case.
Yet another reason why Jersey sucks.
But seriously, this is one fucked up situation. Fuck that judge. Who the hell is he to decide what one should believe or not believe.
edit: glad it turned out ok.
I can see some sense to it. Look downtown on Thursdays around the square and find people who make their kids stand outside the concerts holding signs about God and how everyone is going to hell. There is also people holding up signs about there is no god so it can go either way. I guess its a government attempt to protect a child getting some bad heat.
