i like shitty old chevy trucks
When the title comes & I get the paint redone 5000 & it’s your’s.
5000? holy hell.
Nice truck. It would be better with the 5.7 but nice none the less
Edit: I’m actually surprised its a Z71 and it doesn’t have the 5.7
KBB in poor condition is 4200. 5000 obo.
Yeah if it were the 5.7 it’d be perfect but it’ll do for now. If I can get a shorter commute to work I’ll sell both my vehicles & get a ecoboost f150 or newer silverado.
Sentimental value…worth exactly $5000
Not even the sentimental value. Once the paint’s done on it the truck will be extremely clean for a 97. Has a bunch of new parts in it that were put on back in November like a whole new exhaust including the cat, transfer case, brakes, few other things I’m forgetting plus the little bit of work I’m putting into it.
^
I like it! Keep up the good work! You bought this for almost the same reasons I got my Yukon. Brings back some memories.
Finally had time to get the fender flares on. Removed the side mouldings last week simply b/c I didn’t feel like cutting them to fit the new flares on. Brought it up to CCR the other day to see about having the truck repainted & right now we’re scheduled for the 2nd week of May to have the truck re-shot. I am however waiting to see if I’m going to be getting a job close to home or possibly a better paying job with the railroad & if that happens chances are the truck & my mk5 tdi will be sold & I’ll be buying a new ecoboost f150. So right now I’m gonna rock the truck as is, probably just get some tires & spacers to get a little more aggressive look & fill the flares out a bit more. Here’s a pic of how it looks now. Probably won’t be doing too much to it until I get back from my vacation. If I do end up keeping it, once I come back wheels/tires, 2 inch lift blocks, paint & cab clearance lights will be getting done. See what happens.
Been thinking a lot about the old k1500 & I’ve decided I’m just gonna keep it & dress it up like a 3/4 ton. Leaving for a week in Montana next week but when I come back I’m dropping the truck off at CCR to get a new paint job (no more black). I’ll also be ordering smoked cab clearance lights, steps, shorty headers & either a 1.5 or 2 inch lift block for the rear end to level the truck out. I’ve got a few emails out on some rims, decided I’m going to just ditch the z71 wheels in favor of some mickey thompson classics or american racing wheels. Here’s a pic of what I’m looking to make out of this truck.
Ordered a few goodies for the good old k1500 tonight. My smoked LED cab clearance lights came in today, sadly I’m leaving for vacation so they’ll be on hold until I get home. I just ordered a set of smoked tail lights as well as a set of towing mirrors since that’s the whole point of having this rig is for towing. When I come back from my vacation I’ll throw the few new parts on the rig & then CCR will have it for a week painting it. Still in the works are finding a set of nice wheels for the truck, side steps & getting the rear blocks to level the truck. So until May, there won’t be any updates on the truck but once everything gets done I’ll be sure to get stuff posted.
This thread really makes me want an old pickup for a winter beater…
I love it, even with the 5.0 it’s a great truck.
If it wasn’t your truck then it has a twin on Edson street in Amsterdam. Black on the bottom, clear front lights and chrome front bumper too. The only thing I noticed that might be different was the set of aftermarket taillights on it.
Must be a twin, I don’t go out to Amsterdam. I’m in Montana right now on vacation so if it’s been this week, most definitely wasn’t me.
Making some good progress today on the old GMC. Got home late last night from my Vacation to Montana to see my uncle & came home to a pile of parts. Slept off the jet lag for the most part & got to work. 1st order of business was removing the plastic bedliner b/c tomorrow I’ll be putting a roll on 1 in. I also had to remove it to make getting the tail lights out easier. Once that was done, I thew on the new smoked tail lights & I personally love them. With that out of the way, I put a Penco Yamaha/KTM racing decal on my window. It’s my uncle’s work out in Montana, pretty cool place so figured I’d represent his work out here in NY. Then I got the tow mirrors on & I gotta say they look & I love how functional they are. Things left to do: Install cab lights, clean the bed & do the bedliner. Next week (5/7/13) the truck goes for paint at CCR. Here’s some pics, can’t wait to get her painted with new wheels & tires.
Finally got the cab lights on, sadly gotta work on the wiring still. Decided to run 4 instead of 5 mainly b/c of my OCD not really liking odd numbers. Bedliner’s still on hold too. Quick pic:
I don’t know what some of these guys are talking about with towing power. As long as you don’t have a double axle car trailer with another full size truck on it or a 24"+ boat than this will be fine towing. That little Vortec 305 will hold its own. Too bad the didn’t get true Vortec heads tho.
I have one and tow snowmobiles with it regularly. It does fine, but it could use more power even with just two sleds in an enclosed trailer. As long as you’re not in a rush going up hills then its no problem… lol
EDIT: mine is the non-vortec and makes a bunch less HP.
