Time for a change

arent they all Vortec after the early '90’s? Even the 4.3 had Vortec heads early on

the 4.3 vortec started in the late 80s. I dont think they started with the 305 vortec until 96. My 305 is a 94 and is not.

didnt wanna save up and get a diesel truck with some actual balls behind it?

for most people a diesel truck is overkill and the maintenance costs are much higher than a gas 1/2 ton.

My brother is getting rid of his diesel truck and getting a new 1/2 ton soon.

bitch trucks. whats your bro trying to get for his cumjobber

the dealer said they would give him $12k on a trade. I told him to take that and run because the truck has around 125k and is rusting quite a bit now.

My 1/2 ton hauls and tows just fine for me. Ive towed a car with it and even pulled my brother’s Ram with a dump trailer out of the mud with it.

yea typical dodge rust plaques those trucks :frowning:

it does seem like Dodges are the first trucks to rust these days. My Ford has a few little spots I need to fix soon too though.

is there a good k1500, k2500 forum? i’m trying to find a good rust free used truck

Yeah you just gotta plan everything out. Haven’t towed anything besides a civic behind it & that was just dragging it with a tow strap up the road haha. I’m sure it’ll be fine.

It’s not too bad. If it had a little more power it’d be perfect. Gotta do a little research for the best bang for your buck to get some extra horses out of the old girl

I was in the market looking all over for a 2nd gen 3/4 ton ext long bed 4wd cummins but they were all either rotted or had too many miles for with too high of a price. All I’m towing is project cars, my dad’s compact tractor. Small things. Diesel just wasn’t worth it at the time. Maybe someday down the road. More than likely if Ford offers a good deal on the ecoboost f150s this summer, I’ll be selling both the Sierra & my TDI & getting a Ecoboost.

Well truck’s off at CRC getting painted. Decided to take the flares off for now, had to come off for paint anyways so we’ll see how it looks when it’s all done. Started my bedliner in the truck, mainly wanted to get the rails done on the bed before it had a brand new paint job. Threw on a “Nobody cares about your stick figure family” sticker on the back window b/c well I don’t care about your stick figure family.

Wheels came today & picked up a good set of BF All Terrains off craigslist for a good deal. 285/70/17s, should fill the wheel weld out nicely & give the truck a good look. Just gotta get the tires on the wheels & bring the wheels up to the body shop so when the truck’s all done they can mount them on the truck for me. Next time I post pics, the truck will be all white with the rims & tires on it.

ya coulda got a nice 1st gen for about 5k… never get a cummins with a auto tranny tho… only differences in the 1st gen and 2nd gen is the body and injection pump, and unless u plan on make over 500hp ya dont need the p pump in the 2nd gen… powerstroke can be found for 5k too thats how much i paid for my 7.3… cant find a cheap duramax cuz there to new and the first 2 years are in scrap yard cuz they blow up at 100k… 12v cummin an a 7.3 will last 500k if not more, my buddies 7.3 o/d says 587k and it stopped working 4 years ago, trucks still running to this day

Those tires look shot dude. Come see me when your ready for some real rubber!

And I defiantly woulda done all 5 clearance lights… 4 just looks funny

You do realize that bigger tires will increase load on the driveline if you plan on towing with it right?

Yeah I thought about all that but for what I got this for it does what I need & I can’t complain.

Tires will do for now. They’re not too bad. 2nd vehicle so it doesn’t get too many miles on it. Cab lights will be coming off when I get the truck back.

Yeah but for what I’ll be towing I’ll be fine. I’ll be towing small project cars with a tow dolly & my dad’s kubota is only like 2500 lbs. Nothing major at the moment.

Got my truck back from Capital Region Customs & got the wheels & tires on it. All I got to say is DAYUM! Gotta do something bout the rear springs. Pretty well shot so gonna start shopping around for either 3/4 ton springs or a lift kit with springs. Here are a few pics I snapped today. Let me know what you guys think.
