that sucks

ouch! looks like a replacement motor may be your best bet unless you plan on building that one up

ugh. bummer. how many miles were on it?

I saw the carnage first hand. Intake valve contact FTL :frowning:

Eh, we’ll see. Either way its going to be a good chunk of change.

about 110,000

thats an odd looking head what kind of car is this?

I believe that is a 1.8 turbo vw head from a passat. Definitely an interference motor. 1.8 BT time?

Was the belt ever done before? I thought the maintenance schedule was 70 or 80 k for the 1.8t

so did it really take 16 hrs like the book said???

oh thats bad.

Intake valve damage only increases performance.

sucks

i bet it took longer

it took jeff and i everybit of that just to change the timing belt and water pump on my wifes passat

sorry to see that be rad how many milles did you have on yours?

I was prob there for 5 hours maybe just ripping it apart.

Hows the wifes passat running after your service?

good…make sure you set the timing belt one rib off

jeff will remeber

they you say to set it a one rib off to allow for the new belt to streach

Brad,

check this stuff out. it’s local, but I think that everything that is broken on his engine is also broken on yours. Might be able to use some of the stuff though, IDK.

Don’t think I can use any of that. Same stuff broken on that is broken on mine.

Ouch. Whats the reccommmended change interval on them?

i bleieve it 70-80

i know we changed mine at like 86 and i was worried then,
but runs like a dream

but now she wants a new car and i herd the magic words “get what ever you want”

humm gto gtp another f bucket…

Don’t think anyone’s going to want a Passat after reading this thread
