Timing Belt Job Performed Twice

Handjobs ??? Yesssssss fuck that capt tool he can fuck himself

He spent 9 hrs in the car with Wayne yesterday… think he’s good for a while!

If you look in the ASS section of shift you’ll see some glowing reviews from me twards them. I’m not saying they are the worst shop ever or calling names. But I did feel it was important to post the facts of what happened up because I believe it should have been handled differently.

Your also out of state ! No shop would pay another shop to do something u less they saw it first ! If u brought it there u prly would t of had a issue but your not and so your in this situation .

I’d say I’m pretty good at anything with my hands. I can watch a youtube video and complete 90% of things without an issue or anything. A timing belt is not something you mess with as a DIYer unless you’re completely confident in your own 2 hands and have some experience doing so.

A mistake on a timing belt job can cost you your engine. OP got lucky IMO that his valves arn’t all bent up and toasted. I just had mine done professionally, and while it was through a friends father who charged me way less than the OP, I have the confidence that as long as I do not touch any timing components, they will scratch my back if theres any major issues. A guy with 35 years of experience will always trump my youtube skillz :bowdown

Again, sucks you’re so far away OP, while I agree the ASS tech probably did mess the job up, it’s hard to get warranty work taken care of that far away! I’m blown away the towing place couldn’t offer you a cheaper alternative, such as some sort of shipping situation instead of some flatbed driving the entire way.

This is also 99% the reason shops do t want u bringing parts in so if shit goes wrong it’s obv on them and not a deal like this .

but the parts he brought didnt fail… a bolt came loose that holds the part on failed/loosened up thats my argument here so there is no warranty so to speak but a refund on the labor because the job had to be done again for negligence of the installer

you work/own (idk what you do) at a shop you gotta understand that part of it

If you buy quality parts the shop should have no issue installing them. I bought the ECS Tuning “Ultimate Timing Belt” kit for my A4, the place I had install everything was impressed by the parts and what was included. If you’re buying aftermarket garbage made in Taiwan and bring it to a shop to install, I can see them giving you a hard time.

On that note, never buy URO aftermarket parts, they fail quickly. Tie rod ends twice in 1 month is no way to go through life, kid.

def agree with the uro junk!

My parts that I bought and brought were the ECS ultimate kit including the water pump with the metal impeller.

We don’t issue a warr on labor or parts if we didn’t supply them ! Why ? Cause if it comes back and it’s gotta come back apart "like this " u have to eat it and ya didn’t make any money . That’s why there is markup in parts so if there is a issue we made more money initially . I could see his issue if a couple weeks out this happened but 5 months out ! A lot of variables can happen . We still don’t know WHAT bolt came out etc . Is it probably install issue ? Yeah but we don’t know for sure . I would have a hard time paying some other shop 1000 miles away without seeing first hand . Anyone would

Funny thing is, the one time I didn’t bring my own parts, they forgot to order them. Haha…That just occurred to me for the first time.

I have no answer for that lol

  • fucking REP, that reply should have been the only one needed 4 pages ago! (even though you sorta said the same thing about 10 times here now, people just didn’t want to listen)

Kevin I owe you $20, it takes a lot to get me out of the wood work but this thread and the stuff happening you don’t see around this thread pushed me to post.

I wont even comment on the off topic shit other than you all looked retarded getting involved with all that crap.

On topic:

Exactly like john said. Post the damn “bolt” please. Where did it come from. Was it one or one of a few bolts holding said integral part on the timing belt system? Is it holding a rotational part on? Like an idler bearing maybe? because the bearing could have failed, seized up and backed the bolt out! Shit like that happens, and without answers like that NOBODY including the OP, the vw dealer that didn’t do shit, Darryl from 1500 miles away from the car, or the VW shop that put another belt kit on could say definitively what was the REAL cause to this 4 page shit show. Its like getting to the bottom of a murder mystery saying it was a weapon that killed them… was it a knife, gun, tank, bomb, WTF was it we need to know so we can charge the criminal appropriately???

chemical weapons, thoses are common these days.

If ASS showed that much interest I would have been thrilled…haha

I said in the first response I’m not going to battle or rant… Just not…

Albany Speed Shop has helped countless Shift members and will continue to do so.

Albany Speed Shop backs its work and the parts when purchased here.

In the event the “bolt” pic shows definitively Albany Speed did something to cause this problem 3000 miles and 5 months ago then we’d be in the wrong if I didn’t do something to help. Even after the customer was mad because the on hand tech refused to inspect his car with out cats and then was told to go fuck himself by the customer when he left, I would still honor our commitment to back our work. Had I been notified that the problem occurred I could have assisted with the help from NAPA but under the circumstances and path followed it was already to late for my intervention.

I feel bad and take that shit personally which is why we have great customer reviews and great CSI. It matters to me. Chris, Im not holding out on you because you were so yourself that day, nor do I “clearly do not want to pay” as someone else hating our shop stated. I’ve been down this road before… Just because another shop states xyz doesnt mean xyz is correct. If fact blaming another shop to get the job and charge more is all to common in this industry. That being said, I can;t just stroke a check to anyone based on hearsay or opinions. Regardless of how you feel about that, thats all we have here until something shows factually otherwise. For instance a picture or an associated NAPA facility living under the same guidelines that I adhere to.

I haven’t showed interest? You called me in the morning, i followed up with that information through out my day and was able to tell you where we were at when you called back as planned in the afternoon. Unfortunately I didnt have the answer you wanted, so we ended up here. If not arguing out the point by continuously posting here implied that I was not interested, I apologize. I refuse to get into these discussions on this forum or any other for that matter for this very reason. There are to many people who do not know the ins and outs of our particular situation and thereby comment with opinion and emotion which just further exacerbates the no hypothetical issue. Just look at this thread to see what I mean.

So If I comment and fight back Im an asshole and if I dont then Im an asshole who’s not interested. either way I lose… and for me too and Albany Speed Shop I need to stay civil and the best way to do that is not to engage. You see I have feelings too and I have and will again if needed do a KK rant, but generally its when someone attacks my integrity. I never learned well how to lie steal, cheat and pass alone hearsay. So when someone like Alpine starts his line of BS and suggesting things like “oh they did it to try to burn out the clutch so they could then sell me a new one” I get really upset. and then the KK/slowmarrow in me boils over.

I do really wish you called when it failed. I really wish we could have sent you to a NAPA in Florida. And I really wish your car didn’t have any problem, as quite frankly i really like your car… But after all that, I canot just send out a blind check for hundreds of dollars without just cause or reason. I’m sorry but because you say so or they say so isn’t enough these days.

The action and reaction part of this makes me rethink whether or not A.S.S. should allow customers to bring their own parts anymore. I know we are one of very few who allow this to happen anymore. I better understand now why shops wont do it and it makes me wonder if we should no longer allow this to happen either. Its a shame really…

Never the less… this is most likely my last post regarding this. Unless something else is found or discovered to allow me to know we really did make a human error and cause this problem. Then, I guess we’ll have to have another post to reverse all the things that were suggested and said about ASS. Wouldn’t that be funny, yet I doubt it would ever occur. Why because its way more fun bashing people and places then it is to praise them…isn’t it? Kinda like watching NASCAR for the crashes…not really the race.

What the f do you mean SLOWMARRO emotion ??? You saying I have a short fuse !!! Lol

no sir… like no fuse…lol

Ok just needed clarification ! Your diagnosis was spot on … When is my screw gonna fall it ? I know ya left my screw loose !
