timing belt problem (honda)

i can not get my belt to get tight enough so that when i spin the wheel that i can get the belt tensioned right. so i can tension it down correctly. but when i spinn the wheel the belt jumps teeth and i have already gone through the tnesioner bolt.

year, make, model, etc

EDIT: i’m not going to say it

damn thanks i thought i had it in there … thanks

car is an integra with a b18b

cant get the timing belt down to where it should be it has some slack and im kinda afraid to take it into full boost.

some one want to give me a hand i have tryed everything to get this to work and still no luck.

here’s what I recently had to do on my h23a1 dohc motor which was different than when i had my f22b1 sohc…

  1. get everything timed up PERFECTLY
  2. loosen tensioner bolt 2/3 turn
  3. turn the crankshaft bolt counterclockwise until it goes about 3 teeth (this will create the tension you want)
  4. tighten tensioner bolt to spec
  5. fin

hopefully this helps …

Are you turning the crank with a breaker??? At this point, you might want to get someone to come over and help you out.

sometimes the spring on the tensioner sticks, so you have to pry it with a screw driver,

there is a good write up on honda-tech i just can’t find it now
