my timing belt makes a squeeling noise as i press the gas, it almost sounds kind of cool, but i know its bad, how much can this cost and where can or should i get it done?
what kind of car are u talking about?
if its a 240 there is no timing belt…it would be either ur alternator belt or power steering belt…tighten it
and introduce urself in the new users section
righto. chances are it’s a loose or wet belt. if you have fluids leaking on your belts such as coolant from a bad water pump for example, it could cause your belts to squeal as well.
Or it can be dry, cracked and bad. In need of replacment. Tighten a cracked belt and what happends it breaks in no time.
We don’t have a timing belt? weird. I get the squeking to, but its only in 1, 2 gears up unitl 4k after that it stops, i orginally thought it was belts but wouldn’t it squeak all the time and at all rpms.
240’s have a timing chain.
LOL
man i always thought the timing chain rattle was from the belt…jeeez guess i was wrong
the timing chain is something you do not ever need to replace (you can if you have 1500 $ and if u want to get rid of that annoyin clack clack noise)
the belt he is talking about is the belt that is connected to the altenator i know this because its happening with my KA
