Tint Violation and modified exhaust law questions....

  1. is it worth fighting a ticket for tint violation and a modified a exhaust? or is it just a waste of time?

  2. how much do these fines cost?

  3. should i replace factory exhaust and remove tint for the court date? what will happen if i dont?

  4. what will happen if i pay the fines and do not replace tint and exhaust and i get stopped for it again?

look up the laws online and print them out, highlight the important parts and decide if its worth fighting. “moddified” exhaust is not technically illegal, as long as it retains the same emmisions equipment as stock exhaust (I.E. catylitic converters/resonators/ect.) and doesnt surpass the legal decible limit. all this info can be found easily. as for tint, scrape it off and it should be a $20 parking ticket, then get it re-tinted 50% instead of whatever you have cause legal is 70, and 50 isnt too noticably different to the point of getting stopped for it. i used to have $20 and now only have it on the back threee windows, i always planned on getting the fronts re-done to 50% but always spent the money on something else.

most exhausts are for off road use only.

Hard to say what they would charge you for the fines.
It varies from town to town. I was stopped for a missing front license plate in Corfu and I think that would have cost me around $50 + court fees.

They cop also mentioned my exhaust but didn’t write me up for it but I imagine that woud have been a larger fine.

last time I paid for tint it was 180 I thinkin Amherst. I had 3 other tickets in the same week for tint.

well, it looks like its not worth fighting, i guess you gotta deal. i have a moddified exhaust on my car, but right now thats the only thing illegal i have going for me, and if im just cruising around its not nearly loud enough to get stopped for, and if i get stopped for loud exhaust, it will probably be from racing/driving too fast or sumthing so it would be a speeding ticket instead anyway

legal is 70% for 1991 and older i believe. but any tint on the front windows is illegal, judge and tropper told me that. but ya you would just have to pay the fines again. I wouldn’t waste your time switching the exhaust back to the stocker.

no tint is allowed on the front-side windows or windshield on any vehicle unless you have eye problems or a skin disease.

Note : Very strict law. Replacement glass that is tinted is allowed if and only if the original windows were tinted as well. Medical exemption is provided for with permission from Commisioner of Motor Vehicles.

my buddy had that happen, he just told them he took the tints off, and took his exaust off.
