Tivo for sale

someone here at work is trying to sell an entire TiVo system cheap… like 75 bucks.

you have to pay like 10 a month… but it’s a cool idea… digitally tape shows, pause TV and such.

i may buy it… but if i do it’ll probably be just to turn around and sell it on ebay.

if someone was actually looking for a tivo… this is your ticket… he’s trying to sell it ASAP and friday is my last day at work… soooooo would have to be tomorrow. :tounge:

i wish it had a built in digital cable box or i would buy it in a minute…

seems like a decent price… 75 bucks? new they are like 400 or something ridiculous… ??

which kind is it? what size hard drive? I will buy it tomorrow when i come out if its a decent size HD… i am assuming its hot?

they are going for about $199 new…i would love it but it doenst work well with digital cable…only can tape what you are watching you cant tape on a different station

i don’t know what size HD…

i know he won it on the hick station last year and got 2 free years service… he said his daughters watch TV more than him and he barely uses it anymore…

i had the same problem but i figured I was wrong, not that digital cable was that shitty? Isn’t the point of taping it so you don’t have to watch.

Digital On Demand=free Tivo-like feature on Comcast=sucks nuts

well i thought the deal with tivo is that you CAN digitally record something if you aren’t watching it… and that you can pause and do all that goofy shit.

on demand is simply pay per view movies right? tivo is like a vhs + indemand all wrapped in one?

and i think he said it has the regular drive… something like 8 hours of recording time… (not enough in my opinion)

no, it’s kinda like TIVO if TIVO really sucked. you can watch old episodes whenever you want, it saves them for you, but you can’t pause a steeler game like TIVO and I know it’s not as streamlined… say you save the game on TIVO, it will also save like 5 other football shows and suggest that you check them out. On demand needs to get the bugs worked out… fyi, on comcast PPV movies are free Wed nites till Xmas:cool:

fuck Digital cable…get a dish…Direct TV or Dish network and get one of the good recievers (Sony, etc…) with the built in TIVO
Thats a good look

dish and direct tv = bad reception in bad weather

I hear you…but my mom has had dish network for about 7 yrs or so ever since they stopped Service on the BIG oldschool dish (it was the shit…mad channels)
its been fine…She is in NJ, and i only see her on vacations so i’m not there 24/7 but i’m there for a few day or week…and its always been fine.

THe BIG oldschool dish was the shit…we used to get tons of channels(300+), and random sports feeds, etc…
When i was in 9th grade or so she bought it, and after i came to Pgh for college the piston broke that moves the dish to the different satalites…that and some other part was needed to fix it but they didn’t make the stuff any more cause Dishnetwork and Direct TV had come out…so my mom switch to dish network.

they still selling this?

yup…

i have it…
