Tonawanda- one of the best places in America to raise kids??

hate to see the worst-

http://realestate.yahoo.com/promo/americas-best-place-to-raise-your-kids.html

God damn it. Why does everybody in Buffalo have a fucking cutter mentality?

Being rated as a great place to raise kids is a “good” thing to feel “happy” about.

I’m still blown away that the median household income is so low. I thought it would be higher. IMHO 63K a year is NOT enough to live on for a family. How the hell can anyone afford to do ANYTHING?

you Tonawanda folks :smash2:

I wonder if they mean the Erie county side or the Niagara county side :eyebrow:

seriously spend an afternoon at Canal Days , frequent one of the local bars or pick up the local police blog and then tell me how you cant wait for your kids to grow up there :purextc:

disclaimer- not saying its better or worse than anywhere else in WNY but on a national level??! come on

isn’t the niagara side the City of Tonawanda…I live in the town…great step up from cheektovegas and will probably be where I buy a house.

Niagara is North Tonawanda

LOL that’s exactly what I was thinking. With all the negative things people say about WNY this should be something to celebrate.

:word:
The Buffalo region is getting a lot of attention lately. Extreme House Makeover, Diners Drive-ins, and Dives, Anthony Bourdain, No Reservations, Kenmore in the top 10 neighborhoods, Tonawanda in the top places to raise a family. We won’t include Wife Swap in the list

Positive light is something we need in this area. This area is great, yes it has it’s negatives, but if everyone has the WNY sucks mentality, then it’s not going to get anywhere. If you live here, why not strive to make it better? If you don’t like it, move. One more job for someone that wants to stay in the area.

it sounds like they are talking about the town of tonawanda. it mentioned kenmore schools and the town and kenmore are the same school district.

Although I will probably end up starting my life in Tonawanda (first 5 to 10 years into my career), its not a place I would say that id prefer raising my kids in. Not a bad place, but definitely not the best in the nation lol…

For the value of cost of living in this area though, you cant beat it imho.

From what i’ve heard and observed, some of Buffalo’s ghetto trash is slowly creeping into the City of Tonawanda.

I dunno what you have observed but crime is non-existent in Tonawanda. The overbearing police force will not stand for ghetto antics. The education system is good, the housing is affordable and the residents for the most part will always lend a helping hand. Tonawanda is a great place to raise a family. I don’t understand all the hate.

Town of Tonawanda ≠ City of Tonawanda

Very true, I’m not trying to hate. I grew up in Tonawanda, and have no major complaints… just some of the the housing projects - :picard:

I didn’t look into their source, I am assuming it is close to correct.

well for one, our houses don’t sink…:gotme:

true, i left the keys IN my del sol for 5 years in the street, doors open…i was so lazy yet confident!

Has there been a rash of sinking houses I don’t know about? Unless someone back filled lots and built on them, then topography of the western ny region is generally pretty consistent. I didn’t know of any local (hamburg) swamps turning into subdivisions, but then again I haven’t looked into it either.
