Yeah that’s him…it really did have tranny problems…i believe Level 10 rebuilt his new tranny
so i’ll actually get to see this beast this summer?
lol i don’t know ask him…i’m trying to get his brother(my boss) to bring his Viper out, that thing is fuckin badass :bowdown
I heard he dynoed like 620 wheel on 6psi so it would be very capable of 800+. This is all second or third hand hearsay tho
can someone photoshop my intercooler black and my clear corners?? I wanna see what It would look like…
also, maybe a seperate pic with my wheels all black??
Thanks guys, to clear a few things up… 99 TA is a 30th anniv, as stated above. LS!, well, sorta, it’s a 6.0 iron block bored and stroked to a 409 ci. (4"in stroke, bored .035 over). The turbos are Morgans choice, not Blowzillas, but some similar variation. I had always custom spec my own turbos in the past, as this is the 3rd kit on the car, this time I went with more an off the shelf recommendation by Morgan, and couldn’t be happier as of yet.
I have trailered to the lot twice, both times when I was in route to get the tranny done. The car has had 5 transmissions in two years. This time I paid triple the normal price to have Level 10 build it, who promised, with an unconditional 1 year warranty, that I will not spank it. That said, I will spank it, just waiting for spring. I hope to use the warranty twice this year to get my moneys worth. I could solve the problem with a turbo 400, but who the hell wants some old school domestic 3-speed for a street car I take to church and the kids out in for ice cream.
As far as power, it depends on boost as always, I tend to produce 25-30 hp per 1lb of boost (on top of the NA power it makes) and can run to 16 lbs on 94 octane…now that 93 is all we have, I wont go past 14lbs without something that smells a little better, but wastes the o2 sensors. Which I don’t “really” plan on doing this year much if at all. Its alot to handle some heavy ass car sideways at highway speed.
Its not built to be a drag car, it’s a fun car… and While I may add some traction this year, theres no tranny brake and no drag shocks and it’s not built to beat up on Lenko tranny drag cars… may it , sure, but the intention is fun.
Will my goals change, maybe, never know. Depending on traction can make a 2 second difference in 1320 times I would suppose.
As of this point, I haven’t really raced much, except the obnoxious black mustang who was unpleasantly surprised one night at the lot, and alot of roll on fun with Vipers as mentioned above, and blown GTO’s, etc.
My love isn’t the strait line, its the turns, and this beast doesn’t turn too good, so my focus this year is on the M3 now that the Atom is sold, and getting my SCCA racing licence along with Jesse. I do hope to make some smoke and beat up a few cars with the T/A this summer, and only hope to waste a few more trannys to keep up the tradition.
There u have it!
there is always a built 4l80e, going to pay for it but im sure that would hold up, there is a 9 sec twin turbo vette with a built 4l80e, runs and drives fine
OO are you talking about the kenne bell Cobra owner?? I cant stand that kid/guy…however old he is. Hes so into himself and his damn car…he thinks hes like the incredible hulk once he pulls into the lot and his car is god…
nice to know a little bit more on the history of the car…I will hafto check out the car closer in person sometime when im down there.
Thats the next step… Level 10 said they would replace the current with a 4l80 if necessary… but that require tunnel mods and some other metal fabrication I didnt want to do since I didnt want to cut into the car, but i’m sure that’ll be the end result.
Cossey still has the video of your attempt at an AutoX in the TA :lmao
Glad to hear you’re going to be a fast driver instead of just having a fast car :thumb :tong
M3 should be very impressive… but back ontopic.
Boostin, I’d photoshop it but you’ve seen the extend of my “skills” in a photoshop, if somebody takes the other picture and blacks out the corners it would only be a few minutes of work.
I will see what I can do later. I did one with the black IC but I didnt take my time and its all blotchy :headbang
if the level 10 dont hold up try www.cahallperformancetransmissions.com they make a nast 4l60 many many sub 9 sec cars with them in there my friend with a impalla ss has one had it for 2 years now and beets it aint broke it
Im repainting my tail lights and my rear berger panel black as we speak…I will get pics up in a little while with it all together…
Maybe I will pull off the intercooler and paint that black too…might as well take advantage of the black weather…Also, gonna pull out my plugs and close the gap a little…see if that helps with car breaking up and not going anywhere lol
here they are…working on painting my clear corners right now…hafto wait another day for the intercooler since its a real pain in the ass to take off…
looks better, IMO.
how does it look with the lights on? Is that legal?
i dunno lol…I painted them before and they look real dark, but when my lights are on, its like they arent even painted…on the lights they are dark to begin with and I just did 3 real light coats with 2 coats of clear gloss…
What did you paint that with? You do know that normal spray paint will not allow any light to go through and that you need the tint spray for it to work? Right?
Sorry, Ive actually seen quite a few taillights ruined because this wasnt thought out.
A closer look reveals that you just spray painted them back… To save the tails start wet sanding with 600 grit and try again with the proper paint
You need this translucent paint:

dude!? did you really just paint them with regular black paint?
I have learned that after you paint them with black paint…take a damp cloth soaked lightly with gas and wipe it evenly over the tail light…it takes a little bit of the paint off and thins it out but it still looks evenly dark throughout the whole tail light…I have done this before, and my tail lights shine right through it…not to mention, It gives the paint a little glossy look…I did this AFTER I posted up the pics…
and for the record I just painted my intercooler black and it looks dumb.
