touch screen blackberry what?

i wouldn’t wait for the touchscreen one personally. the rumor was originally q3 of 08, but i wouldn’t hold my breath. rim is notorious for delaying releases. just look at the new os that’s coming out (4.3, then 4.5 now 4.6). they released the specs on it last september and hinted at it by the end of the year, and it’s now almost june and we’re STILL waiting for it. rumor is that they are refusing to release it before the bold is released to try to increase sales (bold is coming out july, 4.6 os to be released in august). if that’s what rim’s doing then they really suck donkey balls.

supposedly there are three new bb’s to be released this year. the bold (9000 3g) in july, the jam (9100 flip) in “october”, and the thunder (9500 touchscreen) in q4. i would guess we’ll only see the 9000 this year, and it will be late. they already are speculating that it will be pushed back to august/september. which would be stupid for rim if the 3g iphone is being released in june.

How did you get to chose that specific plan? When I added the phone to my cart, it only showed me one plan.

I could do one that included unlimited text.

you just click the “Email and Messagin plans” tab. it starts you off on the basic tab.

edit: please remember, I don’t care who or what you use. I’m simply trying to stop the spread of mis-information.

I heard Q3 for the 9500 but I am not surprised. RIM AND VZW are notorious for pushing dates back but with VZW, no date is official or firm so I guess they can get away with it (XV6800).

Well one thing that pisses me off with esp. verizon is that depending on who you talk to, you get different answers. I have never had as big of problem with any company I have dealt with more than verizon.

I guess I am going to see which comes out first. A new BlackBerry or the new 3G iPhone

Hahah, I can answer that for you easily. The iPhone will be out in early June.

my problem with zvw was always that their phones, well they suck. they get everything so late because everyone else us gsm and they’re still cdma, so they get stuff like a year later. vzw just got the curve like two months ago and i’m already on my second version of it (had the 8300, now have the 8310). and the same thing with the 8100, at&t had it almost two years ago, vzw just got it a few months ago. also i always hated that vzw crippled the bluetooth on their phones. those two reasons are why i left them for at&t and i couldn’t be happier. i have also heard that they messed with the gps in the 8330 and the 8130 so that you have to use their software rather than any of the free ones availible.

That is one reason why I am more partial to WinMo devices rather than anything else, you can circumvent alot of the preinstalled BS through registry hacks, etc.

My only real beef with VZW besides their continuing employment of Evolve (j/k, Jeff) is the lack of handset options. Part of the problem is if you are a handset manufacturer, what are you more likely to produce, GSM/WCDMA that most of the world uses or CDMA2000 which only the US and a few small Asian countries use.

At least VZW is onboard with LTE.

hey now, I’m not really a VZW employee…

they are also down with LIMO…

I do think they are making progress with their handset issue. You can’t say its the same as it was even a year or two ago.

the handset choice was the biggest issue for me. i’m one of those retards that gets a new phone every 6 months because i get bored. i can upgrade on at&t with no problems, no retarded charges and fees, and i have lots of options. vzw never let me upgrade. i had a old lg flip and wanted the lg v about 8 months before i was due for an upgrade and i had to pay $400 for it. fawk that.

…that’s going to be the same anywhere you go unless you have some sort of special discount on your account allowing you new customer pricing whenever you want it…

Definitely not but the smartphone lineup is severely lacking compared to GSM networks.

i’ve upgraded twice and my boyfriend upgraded twice as well in the 14 months we’ve been with at&t, we’ve never paid retail yet. he went from a sync to a 8100 two months later and got the discount lol, and now has a 8110. i had a pearl 8100, went to a 8300, then a 8310 in the last year too lol.

There is an annual upgrade program with VZW as well where you get 2 year pricing every 12 months.

i am interested to see a result in the verizon open network thing and hopefully see some unknown phones come up. i am more pissed off not with the type of phones, just how locked down they are by verizons software.

i REALLY wanna see an Android based phone.

If you have to come on here and debate the monthly price difference of a Blackberry to an iPhone then the Blackberry is not the device for you and you clearly don’t need it. The iPhone is a toy. The Blackberry is a smart phone. Learn to differentiate.

And to the people complaining about not being able to get a discount on a new phone whenever they want:

You signed a CONTRACT when you initiated service. How can you honestly think it is fair for Verizon to discount a $300+ phone when ever the hell you please, just so you can try and always have the latest and greatest? If you wanna look cool and have the latest and greatest phones then you gotta pay. Don’t go to your carrier begging for a discount.

doesn’t 3g suck? last i checked evdo rocked 3g speeds?

false, and EV-DO IS 3g. HSDPA/HSUPA vs EV-DO/EV-DO Rev. A

Explain your reasoning on that.

Both wireless sync. Both have internet (iphone more so than BB). Both support Exchange. I get the freedom in my company to choose my own plan as long as I can get my email and texts. I personally like the iPhone for business more. I tried it out and Outlook Web Access looks pretty decent on the browser.

It doesn’t fully support Exchange… yet.
