Toyota 4Runner help... please.

The rear door or hatch or whatever is stuck closed. It has the electric assist close motor thingy. (Just another useless electrical part that is bound to fail eventually.)

I checked all of the fuses, tried the key in the key hole, made sure it was in park, tried to find a manual release, crawled in the back and popped off the tiny access panel but couldn’t get my large American hand in very far. There are no obvious fasteners to remove the door panel either. Car trunks usually have an emergency rip cord, I guess SUVs don’t really need them.

Any ideas of what else I can try? If not, I guess I will go to the stealership.

Oh yeah!: the light showing a door is ajar is on. Maybe that is why I won’t trigger the opening motor.

bump.

Try…buying an American car.

My wife inherited it because her mother died on Christmas but thanks for the advice. I will make a for sale thread.

Come on now, seriously or are you trying to make me feel bad?

She actually passed away 15 minutes after Christmas. She was terminally ill with cancer and living with us. We finished our basement so she could stay with us. AND my daughter was very ill at the time, worst Christmas ever.

Feel bad.

RECIND JOKE / HUMOR PROGRAM ACTIVATED.

Its OK, she is in a better place now. My daughter is sick AGAIN though. WTF?

What if you found the wiring for the door actuator and manually put power to it. Or the wires for the door ajar switch, to make the light go off.

This made me laugh. Carry on.

Can you pull the plug to jump the motor?
