Toyota Halts Sales on 8 models

She has. They were “un-able to recreate the problem”…

If the dealer doesn’t help you, try Toyota corporate…or better yet, file a complaint with the NHTSA.

I’ll forward that info on to her… thanks!

I dunno about you guys but every time I help someone learn to drive (and when I learned to drive), one of the things we practice is putting the car in neutral and firmly but gently pulling the e-brake. You never know when you won’t be able to control your gas or brake pedal.

It makes me upset that such serious accidents could be caused by a lack of such basic information…

Its total BS that this country hands out a drivers license without even basic automobile knowledge…let alone knowing the rules of the road or what to do in emergency situations. I just asked a coworker what he would do if the accelerator stuck…and he thought you had to hit the brakes in order to put the car in neutral. And I’m sure there are many more people who don’t even know what that “N” position is on the shifter. And I won’t even get into the retarded things I’ve seen people do on the road. I consider myself lucky every time I share the road with these people that I still haven’t been in a wreck.

^ I completely agree.

It is absolutely terrible how nearly all drivers on the road lack such basic automobile knowledge. The road test is FAR, FAR too easy, and has nothing to do with automobile knowledge. They’re testing if you can drive straight without killing yourself, thats about it.

I’ve said this multiple times in the past but…I am for periodic road tests. There are far too many fucking rejects on the roads these days. Either too stupid or too ignorant of other drivers.

As if things weren’t bad enough:

Their goes toyota’s good rep  on them slacking

Ads “Sponsored by Honda.”

Pile-on! :run:

Good luck finding a parking spot at any Toyota dealer.

Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood told lawmakers Wednesday that Toyota owners should stop driving cars affected by the recall and bring them back to the company.

This is great I’m really enjoying all off this.

Reports from multiple news outlets cite sources within the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration who claim the government is now looking into electrical problems as the source for Toyota’s recall troubles. The unnamed agency employee reportedly told CNN that the government is investigating whether electromagnetic interference might cause the electronic throttle control system to malfunction. The source went on to add that the agency has found no evidence of problems with the electronic throttle, though engineers at NHTSA were still actively investigating the matter.

News of a possible electronics investigation comes not long after Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood claimed that NHTSA “wasn’t done with Toyota,” and that the Japanese automaker was “a little safety deaf.”

Now the Japanese government has ordered Toyota to investigate the braking system on the 2010 Prius. The U.S. government is also looking into the matter after receiving over 100 complaints about the brakes on the third-generation hybrid. Like most other hybrids, the Prius uses an electro-hydraulic brake system that blends the regenerative and friction braking functions. There have apparently been dozens of complaints in Japan and North America of a momentary loss of braking power at low speeds on slick or bumpy road surfaces.

Anyone remember this video?

From the sounds of the engine bouncing off the limiter, it sounds like the throttle was stuck… Not to mention the guy didn’t know to turn the car off, even though the cop kept telling him what to do.

Nobody has asked the most important question…

Will beck still be able to buy a house???

Obviously, I mean…do you still have red hair?

Just saw a couple Toyotas (Camry, Avalon) crashed…

Guess for GM the Volt can’t get here soon enough. Bet they’re wishing it was ready to go NOW!
