So, ive been trying to sell off my 240 for something more reliable and i can dd all around town, since i frequent markham > sauga > downtown on a daily basis now a days… and basically the 240 isn’t cutting it anymore to do so…
I was planning on just storing my 240 and buying something really beater to dd for the next few years (approx…3-4yrs) till i decide to come back to drifting, and when i did i would just bring my 240 back out…
But i didnt feel like a beater would make me to happy dd’ing it ever single day, cause i know it going be some broke ass 96 honda civic…
SO!! today i got this offer for a 2002 Nissan sentra SE w/ a Bluebird SR20det in it…car looks pretty good comes with a lip and skirts …paint is really mint owner said it was repainted…comes with nismo rims 5 spoke and tein super streets…
now im not a huge fan of sentra at all…but this seems to be something that will be really reasonable… got some balls and it 4dr…
I just wanted to see what you guys think of this… DO it? dont do it ?why? and why not?
i think storing your s13 for a couple of years until you have time to come back to it would be a good idea. you may not realize it now, but once you get rid of it you’ll start to miss it. if you just put it away and came back to it though, you’ll surely rekindle that fire.
i dont like sentras… just because it has a sr in it, i don’t think its worth trading. if i were you and wanted to still have fun with a DD beater, i would keep my s13, store it, and buy a boosted civic or one with a ls or b16 / whatever. dont think it’s worth giving your 240 away for a sentra. and with a civic you can have as much fun as that sr20 sentra and for half the money. just my opinion.
No point storing your 240 unless its completely rust free and has a super clean under body. Our cars aren’t really going up in value with all that rust underneath. 240’s are dime a dozen. When you are ready, come back into the scene and pick one up that already has some work done to it.
If you are looking for a reliable DD, any boosted motor IMO isn’t really the best way to go. Sure buy a civic, corolla, sentra anything that will you to point A to B, effectively and economically. If you are looking for a FUN DD, drive a stock 240, or a fairly stock one. I don’t know what shape your 240 is in or how much work is done to it etc.
Of all the cars I have owned, the 240 has been by far one of the most reliable and less expensive to maintain…thank god.
^^^ x 2my 240 as much as it pisses me off, i always easy to fix when shit goes bad, the dam thing start’s in -38 after sitting for 2 weeks outside, the heat is shit in winter but it’ll get to wherever u need to go and with a smile on ur face. noone can figure out how my car is still going strong after 3 broke ass years. IMO there’s nothing more reliable than a 240, even when things fuck up it’ll still get u home 340km away, in any weather.
Very helpful input guys!
Zudeck makes a good point about how 240 are not valued as much as they use to be lol ppl r complaining about 3g for sr coupe …and I think keeping it and it being good dd is out of the picture lol…
I think Ima go with the sentra and put it up for sale while I drive it dd I may grow to like it…prolly not… Who knows when I get back into drifting I might not want a 240 anyways lol
If your 240 is truly a mint car, ie no rust on frame, then it is definitely worth saving. Regardless of what people say about a s13’s availability, mint ones 1 in 100.d We both know that Irff. Unless u go rhd.
However, if it is showing signs of rust, then it makes no sense to keep it, because 2 years of storage will destroy it.
So if its mint, rust spray it a couple times and store it. If its not, part/sell/trade it.
Oh, and don’t buy a front wheel drive, they suck balls. Especially since you like to slide around once in a while.
Lol, Personally i hate sentra’s quite alot… gyani u have it down to a T…FWD fail forsure BUT
What i notice is that my s13 been up for like a year…and there no real value to it… massive low ballers and what not… my car does have rust but not as much as ive seen on most 240’s… when i do get this sentra it prolly will be up for sale as soon as i get it…so hopefully i get more intrested buys and end up with more money after the sale of the sentra… atm im losing so much money anyways if i sold it for money here on son i wont even be able to afford a decent honda…or even the sentra…
For unreliable cars swapping… everyone who knows my car and seen this sentra says im still getting the better end of the stick on the trade… i personally took it to my friends shop who has worked on my 240 as well and he feels like it alot more on the reliable dd side then my 240…
problem that really made me do the trade for the sentra, was that 240 was not gettin me any money… i prolly would if i had parted it out…but that alot of time and effort i dont have atm…!
you’ll regret selling your car im sure, store and if possible tough it out with a beater or whatever else can be done. After spending so much time and money on your car not worth to sell, Then finding another 240 for a good price like mentioned is 1 out of 100 if you want another one down the road.
