I only expected to do about a month worth of driving (1500km or so) and
I was going to do the clutch next spring. As well wanted to give myself
a break from all the $ I had spent last few weeks/months.
Varun insisted it was a low mileage motor. Spare me the lecture on ignorance.
Actually I have no problem taking the clutch/tranny out. I’m more
frustrated with the $ I have to spend so soon on another clutch.
so just because the clutch is no good it should prove that the motor is not a “low milage motor” ?
I’m sure their are people here who could burn out a stock clutch disk in no time @ the truck under an extremely condition etc regardless of engine milage
Only reason my clutch/pressure plate looked like it did and was rusty as it was… was because Varun got me an automatic engine instead of a 5spd so then sourced the flywheel/clutch/pressure plate… I wasnt worried about its condition because it was going to Euro-Drive regardless…
It doesn’t even look like an oem disc, oh wait, the motor might have been used at the track under extreme conditions, that’s a lot better than it having higher milage.
Even if he inspected that clutch before he put the motor in he would have still re used it…The clutch disk itself has about 3-4mm of meat before it gets to the rivets if you look closely…No one stares at a pressure plate and realises its fucked, like a clutch disk. It was just bad luck for G this time thats all…
give a bad driver a 5 speed car and they will roast the clutch to death in days, the rust would form on anything that is standing for more than a month period and is metal eg friction parts.
Look closely, you can barely see the slots left. the “3-4mm of meat left” is the back of the rivet. The rivets are inversed on every other rivet. If you look at the next rivet (can be seen but barely), there’s probably less than 0.5mm left.
so whats your point dumbass and all the other idiots, people buy used motors for a reason because they are cheaper than new motors from the factory, so therefore a used motor would equal a used clutch so i dont understand where you guys are going with this whole situation. you want a new clutch buy one otherwise your taking a risk, eitherway varuns engines are top notch one bad clutch is a pretty good deal still considering gonad probably got a deal.
For comaprison here are pics of my KA clutch when it was toast…
Still think it’s my disc? I personally don’t think so. I’m replacing the
pressure plate with an OEM one (while the new unit is on delivery) soon
and going to see how it drives.
Twice the work? Meh…

Wow, get off varun’s dick there buddy. Everyone posting in this thread knows when you buy a used motor can can’t expect to have a good clutch, why do you think people are asking why he didn’t check it before putting it in his car?
Point is the clutch disk is not 3-4mm meat left. Just setting the facts straight as to the cause of the problem Gonad is having. No one is debating about the risk of used motors (a 10+year motor).
