Transferring Ownership ?

I have a question about transferring ownership:

The car was bought and put under my mothers name for insurance reasons, Now I’m ready to purchase my own insurance.

I was wondering if I have to transfer the car under my name to get my own insurance and if I would have to pay taxes on the purchased amount again even though its family?

family transfer is free you just declare it as a gift… you and your mom have to go to licensing for this and swear that it is a gift… and yes car has to be in your name for insurance to be in your name
