Transmition problems!!!

hey all,

As some may know, im rebuilding a manual 92 240sx since last year. The time has come to put it all back together. Its now road worthy other then it wont move.

i need some help finding out whats wrong with the transmition? i removed the old one to replace the rear seal and when i put it back in, it wont shift gears with the engine on.

Problems:

  • shifts gears with engine off
  • engine on; neutral (little to no movement), Will not shift into any gears with out slamming it in with clutch deployed,

Mods:
-bings short shifter
-New rear seal

  • changed the rear tail section housing ( couldnt remove the original drain plug)

What ive done to problem solve:
-removed transmition to see if gears were ok. everything worked.

  • Topped up gear oil with 70w90
  • blead the clutch

So please help me, want it on the road asap.

Thanks All!

is your clutch installed right?

your clutch is installed wrong

Your clutch fork may be off its pivot point, preventing proper disengagement of the clutch. Its a touchy little part and when its off, you can’t really tell because it doesn’t look much different.

transmission** lol :stuck_out_tongue:

thanks all for the help.

just to let you know. The clutch disk, fly wheel and pressure plate were rusted together and wouldnt move. so i removed the pressure plate and pryed off the clutch disk with a screw driver and reinstalled the parts after buffing the rust out.

Thanks all.
