Just like the meme above though, no one called him insane, racist, sexist, etc. until he started to run for president. He was in the spotlight for years before this.
Because back then, he was just another douchebag. Another Paris Hilton, another Dan Bilzerian. He didn’t matter, his views didn’t matter. He built things, made money, spent money, lost money, had a couple of TV shows. So he may have been in some folks’ spotlight, but not mine. Yeah, I started paying attention closely last Summer. At the time, I was pretty intrigued. It wasn’t until the 4th or 5th Republican debate that I finally realized that the guy literally had no substance at all. He’s hanging his entire campaign on fear and insults. The wall? Deportation? Pull out of NATO? Eliminate 19 trillion in debt by cutting government waste? Completely defeat Isis? Literally none of these top level campaign promises are going to happen. Not a single one. 70% of what comes out of his mouth during any public speaking event, whether an interview, debate, or tweet is either completely false, or total bullshit (those two things are different). So, in my mind, the dude is certifiably insane or just another sociopath, or both. Again, 18-24 months ago, I didn’t care. Now it’s kind of important.
And no, I don’t like Hillary either, but she doesn’t scare the shit out of me.
Pretty much sums up my thoughts on this as well. Everyone loves the idea of someone outside the establishment coming in to shake things up, but this is not the guy you want doing that. If anything, he is going to lose the election and make it even harder for the next non-establishment candidate to cover ground.
Well based on what you wrote I’m going to challenge that, in a friendly, I-still-want-you-to-fix-things-for-me kinda way ![]()
The wall?
“The wall” is a negotiation strategy a-la-The Art of the Deal as I’ve mentioned here a few times:
Since most people and pretty much all of the media are too lazy to read it, if you want to understand Trump this is all you need to know from his book:
“My style of deal-making is quite simple and straightforward. I aim very high, and then I just keep pushing and pushing and pushing to get what I’m after.” (pg. 45) - Trump details several specific deals he worked on in great detail in The Art of the Deal. Some were successful, some weren’t, but he always puts a positive spin on them, and more importantly, they all evolved from the starting point - from the initial offer. There’s reason to believe that his bluster, his hardline stances, are simply the start of the negotiation for what he ultimately will consider a successful deal in the end…
Now that you have the context, consider this when talking about everything he proposes.
Deportation?
Of criminal illegal aliens, yes. And since 40% of illegal aliens are visa overstays his proposal is to modernize this system. We all know he can’t deport everyone, but if he gets the worst of the worst out that’ll be an Art of the Deal style win.
Pull out of NATO?
That’s spin. NATO countries are supposed to contribute an agreed upon 2% but most don’t. He’s just trying to get them to live up to the terms they agreed to (see below.) If he gets some of them to contribute more than before that’ll be an Art of the Deal style win.
… Eliminate 19 trillion in debt by cutting government waste?
Obviously that’s only part of it. He’s talked about trade imbalance, corporate inversions, etc and realigning them so we can start to draw that down. And if he only gets some of it done that’ll be an Art of the Deal style win.
Completely defeat Isis?
I think you see where I’m going here, lol. Take out their major strongholds -> Art of the Deal style win.
Literally none of these top level campaign promises are going to happen.
The most amazing thing is that this can be said of ALL political campaigns, yet when it comes to Trump everyone is going ape shit. Even going as far as you have saying he’s:
… certifiably insane or just another sociopath, or both… (Hillary) doesn’t scare the shit out of me.
The guy is literally an open book (that you can buy for $10 on Amazon) and somehow he scares you more than a classic politician from the established political class. Maybe we’re all just used to politicians over promising that we don’t think twice when Hilary does it?
I think the real cause of people’s angst with Trump isn’t his stand on any one political issue, but that they just don’t like his tone. They’re not used to someone who sounds “undiplomatic” when speaking or someone that doesn’t care for political correctness. IMO that can also be an asset.
…snip…
We’re good ![]()
I’ll have to touch on your points later on. Busy day now.
Still no time to respond fully, but seriously? An oblique assassination threat toward a family member of a former president? Seriously unhinged. Throw all the meme pics you want at it, dude is not fit to run a soup kitchen, much less a country.
We impeached a president for erasing 30 seconds of tape, she deleted an entire illegal unsecured email server. She scares the shit out of me. I’ll take an asshole who’s proud of it over the legacy her fggt husband left behind after the entire manufacturing sector moved to China. If you support Hill-dog you can keep writing the checks for Uncle Barry’s Obama-phones and the rest of the benefits to the successive generations on the dole that keeps the blue team in power and sucking on the working man’s teet. I can’t say I support any of it. Locally Byron gives out Save-a-lot coupons to get them out of section 8 housing and Cumo wants to pay wages for FMLA and bankrupt and drive more business out of NY. I’ll pass.
My feeling is she is more likely to get all her progressive bullshit passed…
At least if Trump comes up with a crazy idea I feel its likely to not get passed and things remain much the same.
I hate the lesser of two evils argument but its pretty much what we are left with.
See, I watched this portion of his rally and didn’t think he was suggesting someone shot Hillary. Here’s the quote:
“Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish, the Second Amendment. By the way, and if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know. But I’ll tell you what, that will be a horrible day. If Hillary gets to put her judges, right now we’re tied you see what’s going on, because Scalia, this was not supposed to happen. Justice Scalia was going to be around for ten more years at least.”
Since the context of this quote is “an election where he’s trying to get votes”, I took it as he was saying those who support the second amendment should get out and vote for him and against Hillary.
Now if you change the context to “Trump is literally Hitler” then yeah, I can see how you get “HOLY SHIT OMG HE’S LITERALLY TELLING PEOPLE TO KILL HER!” ![]()
When there was an actual assassination attempt (Washington Post LINK) on Trump a few months ago there was less outrage over that then there is over this statement now, lol.
Speaking of “assassination” does anyone remember when Clinton said this about Obama in 2008?
You know I’ll find one on this topic soon, lol.
I think he’s suggesting 2nd amendment supporters use a time machine in his premonition of a Hillary presidency.
I’m normally just here for the memes, but that’s not true.
He’s had allegations of racism (including a settlement for a federal racial discrimination suit), and sexism going back to the 70’s.
No one gave a shit until now because he wasn’t much more than a celebutante developer.
Would a racist fight to include blacks and Jews at his country club?
… But Trump undercut his adversaries with a searing attack, claiming that local officials seemed to accept the established private clubs in town that had excluded Jews and blacks while imposing tough rules on his inclusive one.
Trump’s lawyer sent every member of the town council copies of two classic movies about discrimination: “A Gentleman’s Agreement,” about a journalist who pretends to be Jewish to expose anti-Semitism, and “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” about a white couple’s reaction to their daughter bringing home a black fiance.
The move infuriated council members, who said it was a distraction from their concerns that Trump’s club would spoil a quiet street. But, in time, Trump got most of the restrictions lifted.
See the latest theories that Clinton has brain damage and is mentally unstable?
Sorry, it got buried in the meme stream. ![]()
lol, sure. That’s precisely why he fought to develop that club. To be racially inclusive.
Doesn’t change the fact that, contrary to the meme, he’s been called racists and sexist for decades prior to his presidential bid.
This is just the worst race for this office I have ever seen…
This is just getting pure stupid. Trump says “maybe the second amendment people can do something” which could mean many things, there’s a shitstorm. If you actually listen to what he said, it’s more or less “If Hillary wins and nominates her justices, THEN there’s nothing you will be able to do about it, except for the 2nd ammendment people”. The conclusion that he was calling for her to be assasinated is so farfetched and idiotic, makes UFO people look legitimate. But wait , while there is no evidence whatsoever that violent movies and video games make some people act out their sick desires…somehow Trumps comments incite violence? What a shitshow!
Hillary says that she will stay in the race because Obama could get assasinated “Kennedy was shot in June”… all you hear is crickets.
Now tell me which of those people are “less scary”. Especially considering countless people that get involved with the Clinton crime family end up dead…
Tbh I will vote but I give up, it seems most people don’t give a shit about anything past the first 3 words on the “news”. Btw Jon Stewart type shows are not news… it’s like saying The Onion is anything more than a good laugh
