Right, REAL freedom. Freedom for Adults to make their own choices in life. If I want to smoke pot and kill myself slowly, LET ME. If I want to flaunt my gayness all over the world, LET ME.
But instead, Republicans want to allow only the freedoms that they choose. Like Guns. I mean seriously, you trust citizens to own and operate guns responsibly, but you don’t trust citizens with some Weed? :ham:

Yeah, sadly, in some parts of the country, Church culture is thriving. And they are pushing ideals down the throats of their congregations. Heck, I was in a church last year in N Tonawanda (small community church, totally didn’t expect it), and the preacher went on a LONG rant about all sorts of crap that was pseudo-political. In the south, your church preacher will openly tell you who to vote for.
The bible thumpers are fading a bit, but not fast enough to save the republican party.
I definitely lean more libertarian than republican. I’m also grounded in reality enough to know this is a two party country so I’d rather try getting the republican party to adopt libertarian stances than hop on the crazy train that thinks a libertarian is ever getting elected president. If they can’t get out of the single digits and low teens running against Hillary and Trump that pretty much ends the discussion. I don’t know if we’ll see the two major party candidates be this horrible again for 50 years.
I don’t see it getting better until the republicans can field a more centrist candidate. and the base won’t let that happen… so that’s how you get Trump on the ticket and will keep losing. you’ll just get another trump next time also.

Climate change is a world issue… it’s like when I was working in California, and California has the most stringent regulations on emissions on vehicles registered in their state…yet you have Baja California,MX and Sonora,MX with ZERO emissions standards, and you have BC &SN plated 1980s pickup trucks with zero forms of emissions lowering devices installed. (yea, I undestand they’re exempt…it’s the principle)
Oh yeah, and they burn thousands of tons of garbage/scrap and all that comes north of the border.
So again, unless we can get the whole world to agree on a plan to combat global warming… I DO NOT AGREE with the gov’t making money on combating global warming simply by collecting revenue on regulation fees etc.
I HIGHLY agree with his tax plan… I consider myself a middle class earner… last year, my largest expenditure was Federal taxes, higher than my mortgage.
Kinda shitty IMO. Especially when I see the BS our tax money is spent on… bailing out banks who failed…giving ransom money to Iran…supporting foreign countries who hate us, etc.
How about keeping our money in the country… investing it on our interstates…airports…ensuring poor Americans have a job so they can support themselves, etc.
Nah, we don’t have a pure democracy in the US but a mixture of democracy and republic principles. The electoral college isn’t a “rigged” system but rather another fail-safe built into our society.

The U.S. is a Republic… because we as Americans have certain unalienable rights that cannot be taken away even when the majority says so.
In a democracy… if 60% of Americans say only Law Enforcement should be able to possess firearms… firearm possession by a regular citizen would be illegal.
