i was reading and people noticed the dohc engine seems to get a “spurt” of energy after 5000rpm. Now the question is… how do i make the engine do that all the time?
if there was a way to do this without aftermarket controllers OR higher octane fuel that would be even better…
i know no $=no power… but the power is there… like it hits after 5000… just didnt know if there was a way to change the amount of advance at lower rpm’s or something causing it to pull harder… like a resistor or something in a wire for the electronic advance mechanism or such little things like that
Every motor will dyno different and have different power curves depending on modifications (no matter how slight), mileage, & tuning.
I’ve seen some KA’s that die out after 5k and some that are rev happy. But from the most part, you are right, the power curve on the KA is generally low due to the long stroke of the engine.
Also, if you are inexperienced, do not play around with the ignition timing, too much advance and you could potentially detonate the engine, too much retard and you kill fuel mileage.
